If they are terminal they would rather end their life fast than to suffer for months or years. I have seen 2 uncles suffer from terminal cancer so if I was ever diagnosed I would not want to linger like they did. They were in a lot of pain and pain meds did not help them.

there are so many people who find out they have cancer and their chances of survival are very slim. If you have ever been face to face with death with the possibility of not returning to a normal life, you might understand why one would want to die.
I was extremely close to death, but I also had a good chance of getting better. It was hard enough to hear that i had cancer. I can't even imagine what it would feel like to also be told that all the chemo or radiation in the world wouldn't help. I would probably want to get it over with, too.

Cancer can be a very painful illness. The treatments can also be very painful and can make the patient very sick. Some people cannot handle the pain and sickness, so they decide to end it all before things get worse. This is especially true if they are told their cancer cannot be cured and they will not live long.

It depends on their occupation. Frequently, the medical professional will take their own life (MDS mostly) because they have seen the pain their patients have been in, and want no part of that. THe average person wants more of life...wants to do things with the time they have left...so for them, suicide usually isn't an option. Religion also plays a huge part in this and some religions do not recognize the person who has taken their own life...regardless of the reason

Because they became overwhelmed with the possibility of a long painful death. I don't know what I would do. I think I would hang in there for awhile, they are making inroads every day. I also know it would upset some family if I committed suicide, that would be a big factor in my decision.

Can't you come up with some answer's on your own ?? It wouldn't take much for allot of people to attempt suicide after being told something that just rocked their world. People with mental health issues, other physical diseases, unemployed, bad family relations, etc, etc, etc.Sometimes it is the "last" straw, many people just couldn't take anymore failure, and pain, especially if they were alone. Take care. SW RNP

most who are stricken with cancer feel helpless and in many cases are. some feel it's easier to end their suffering themselves. what they don't realize is there are loads of cancer survives and how suicide will affect their loved ones.

So that they didn't have to go through all the pain...And so that their love ones don';t have to watch what they are going through. It's a very painful thing to watch someone you love die in pain..So I can only imagine what the sufferer is feeling.
