Not sure about healthier but you can certainly make it tastier if you make it from scratch and add a "secret" ingredient that nobody can quite put a finger on.
If you know how to make it from scratch, then go for it.
The pre-prepared mixes are for slobs like me who burn water.

I don't know what CHURRO MIX is, so I'll just give you a guide to go by every time you think about buying a prepared food.
Consider a biscuit: Flour, baking powder, salt, water or milk and shortening or oil.
Simple ingredients.
Now go read the ingredients on a biscuit mix package. You'll probably find there are several ingredients you can't even buy, some you can't pronounce, and things you don't even want in your stomach.
Something as simple as a hot dog has many such chemical ingredients.
Take the time to read the ingredients of any prepared, packaged food.
You'll be smarter for doing so, and your body will reflect the caution and time you're taking to stay healthy.
As for desserts, simple sugar is not as dangerous to your health as high fructose corn syrup, which many prepared foods contain.

Healthy dessert is like military intelligence. Basically, it's an oxymoron. Unless you're talking about chopped fresh fruit in plain yogurt, most desserts are a combination of: 1) refined flour, 2) saturated fat, and 3) processed sugar. Add to that the following: 4) high cholesterol eggs, and 5) high fat cream. It's a relief to eat a little titanium or sodium aluminum silicate, or even some sodium guanolate (salt mixed with bird-sh*t - look for it in cheap ice cream).

When I make desserts, I often use part whole wheat flour, increasing the fiber content. My desserts have either butter or oil, never shortening (an unhealthy trans-fat!). Sometimes I use honey or maple syrup instead of sugar, which have some trace nutrients (admittedly of marginal nutritional benefit) and deepen the complexity of the flavors.
Box dessert can have some drawbacks nutritionally, but the true loss is in flavor and texture!

making something from scratch is always better. this is because you know what you put in the mix. have you ever read the ingredients of a box. have of the stuff i didn't even know existed. besides if you make it yourself you'll feel proud of an accomplishment.

If you make it from scratch you may be able to cut back on some of the things in it that are bad for you.
