A man once said "religion is the opium of the masses" while I don't agree with this statement, many people do. Some feel that all a church does is try and get your money. But I feel what you put into a religion, you will get that back from it. I mean if you are actively involved in trying to make your community better through service projects for example, chances are you will at least make a difference for the better. So again it all depends on what you do within a religion.

It can be a way but believe there are so much more tools used to control the masses

That is certainly one of it's "functions," yes.

And that's not totally a bad thing, if you think about it.

We have things like traffic laws for a good reason.

We're all basically animals; even if some of us are more educated and intellectual than others.

Don't get me wrong; I'm no fundie Bible thumper.

I'm just saying that there's some wisdom in some laws.

maye some religions do, but if you are fair, not all are like that....

there are many ways to control the masses...look at modern day politicians.....communist governments, dictatorships. etc

Oh, it definetly can be. Religious people are normally diligently herded and told to believe things without any proof. People who believe anything so easily are also very easily controlled.

To those that want to be . Just because youstart to believe in something , doesnt mean that you stop asking questions and work out your own salvation .

i think that was a marxist idea ... and its conjecture .. "propaganda" would be a better word choice and it would exist with or without religeon .. and so would the elite class ruling over u and controlling u ...

No, the opposite is true. If you don't have to answer to God you will believe anything they feed you in movies and on tv.
