I don't understand your question so i will have to guess at what you mean. to be honest you don't know people fully. you get to know them over time but to know everything about them takes time. And even then you may never know their full history. For example a woman or man could think they know their wife or husband but what they don't know is they are gay or have a murky past or had a tragic life and did not tell their love one.
you go by your gut feeling with that person and if it feels right then they are ok. i hope that answer your question.
