its my brother's 21st birthday on friday and i have no idea what to get him. he's going to vegas for the weekend so i thought maybe getting him some alcohol to start him off might be good but i don't know. plus im not a big alcohol drinker so i dont know any of the good stuff. can anyone help me out on whats a good either present idea or good quality alcohol to buy him? i dont want to get him the crappy stuff that he is used to drinking with his frat....

First of all, set your budget. It is very hard to present someone with alcohol when you don't really know what they like. My suggestion is to get an assortment of the individual servings of the mixed drinks, (mudslides, margaritas, whiskey sours, etc._ Put them together with a couple of short drink glasses perhaps in an ice bucket, along with some munchy snacks, crackers, etc. And don't forget a small travel size bottle of Tylenol, just in case the alcohol goes to his head. Have fun, I know he will.

My friend in college gave me a big bottle of wine that we proceeded to drink for the rest of the year, along with a really good corkscrew. Most 21-year-olds (and some adults out of college) never buy a good corkscrew, and it's definitely something I've been grateful for on many occasions. From other people I receive Malibu and Captain Morgan rums, a couple of flavored Smirnoff Vodkas, and a really good bottle of raspberry tequila called Baja Luna (delicious and GREAT for shots).
For my friend's birthday I gave her a bottle of Southern Comfort. Essentially the easiest thing is to just give a bottle of liquor that your brother wouldn't otherwise buy for himself, or something that he's always wanted to try and never did. You can ask the person at the liquor store what he/she recommends. You can also look up interesting shots or drinks on the internet and give him the ingredients with the recipe. Really, anyone turning 21 wants cash or alcohol.

A bottle of wine that is exactly 21 years old is classy. Maybe too classy for a college kid to appreciate. Can't go wrong with Jack Daniels.
An AA pamphlet as a gag is cute, too.

If he is going to Vegas for the weekend get him a box of condoms. Drinks are free for the most part at the casinos if he is gambling.
Best advice for Vegas: THERE IS NO SEX IN THE CHAMPAIGN ROOM.
