Drug task force officers will call in canine control when possible first. They will only shoot a dog that is threatening to them and is very close. Many drug house have vicious dogs that are used to scare away drug thieves and look-ee-loos.

If a dog is seeing as hostile and as a danger to an officer's safety in the performance of his mandated duties, then Yes, there IS a reason for killing the dog.
If the dog is tied up and being aggressive, hit him with pepper spray....to keep it occupied...
If the dog is loose and it is obviously hostile and the execution of the warrant is time sensitive, ie:people flushing drugs down the toilet etc....then yes, killing the dog should be an option.

Think of it from the officers end. They are entering a house where there are people on drugs and probably have access to fire arms. Would you want to look for those two things while wondering if this snarling barking dog is going to bite you and possibly infect you with something? The officers aren't going to straight away shoot a dog but if they perceive danger to them...the dog will go down.

Your question is a little confusing.....If you mean there is a dog standing between the police and making a drug bust, yeah, shoot the dog.

No, but many drug dealers have vicious guard dogs protecting the drug house, and the cops have not choice, but to shoot them.

Yes, but not for no reason. If that dog tries to attack an officer then they should shoot it.

There is always a reason. You just don't get to hear about it from the shooters end!
