pray for them... encourage them to give up the very thing that keeps them in bondage, if you have to 'say' anything... an addiction is bondage... but smoking isnt a 'sin' ... each person has to make their own decisions about how they treat their bodies!

I'm Christian and I smoke. Not something I'm really proud of, but there you have it.
I know my body is a temple unto the Lord. I know all the medical facts, it doesn't help.
It is between me and God and when I am finally willing to trust the Lord with all that's in me I imagine smoking will no longer be an issue.
God bless.

Nothing. Why would you? It's their life, not yours; let them live it. If you are going be "Holier than Thou" and say that your body is a temple, then you also mustn't:
1) ever eat at McDonald's.
2) ever eat anything with trans-fats. i.e. most pre-packaged foods.
3) Get a tattoo
4) Get a piercing
5) Shave
6) Let your hair grow long
7) Listen to loud music
Other than that, it's not a Commandment, so they're not breaking any Christian rules. They're just taking a risk on getting cancer.
If they believe in eternal life, does it matter if they get lung cancer anyway? The short time spent on this mortal coil will just be slightly shorter. 50 instead of 70 years on Earth doesn't seem that significant when you are dealing with eternity.

What you have to understand is that religion is a choice as well as smoking. By telling them not to smoke because they are Christian, you are also telling them to choose smoking or Christianity. I am guessing you are very religious and that you understand what I am try to say is not positive.
If you really want to say something to them, try a personall aproach and not a religious one. Say to them, "I had a (father, uncle, freind, ect) that got cancer from smoking. He died a year later." or something of that calabur. Christians are very family oriented people, as you know, and will do about anything to keep from hurting them. Show them that smoking is hurting their family without offending them, and they will stop completely

I know quite a few also. You need to pray for them. If you hound them that will keep them smoking. It is between them and God to deal with the situation. You can use the verse What know ye not that your body is the temple of Christ. Why do they want to harm the temple.

Yes I do know some. As to what to say? Nothing. Until someone is ready to quit smoking, you will not be able to force them to quit, or talk them into it. No one has ever been nagged into quitting an addiction.
Just remember. They already know smoking isn't good for them. They already know about second hand smoke. You can't possibly tell them anything they don't already know. When they want to quit...they'll quit.

If you are talking about ciggarettes yes my husband smokes and my father smoked till he died. my father tried to quit but it was too hard. it made his blood pressure sky rocket. my husband has tried to quit several times in the past 12 months but with my father dying and me almost dying twice because of miscarraiges he has not been succesful. i do not believe my dad or my father are going to hell for smoking. if they are Christians they will Quit if they are able. please do not Judge smokers. i have watched my husband and dad try to quit, it is not by any means easy.

Yes I'm one. It just increases my stress when people condemn me to hell for it. I have no disire to live a long life and the addiction is strong. It has caused a serious riff in my relations with one preacher who likes to bragg that he was delivered. Does that make him more holier than me? I see his sins. I hat the habit and wish I could stop.

You're okay. But hopefully we can both squit....the Lord want us to have a happy, healthy and fruitful life!!
