Allowing your dog to play with other dogs is great, especially to learn bite inhibition (what you were talking about), but they also need to learn to play with their human family (i.e. you and your family) without biting. Labs have tons of energy and need lots of exercise (this may cut out some of the biting) as well as lots of toys to keep them interested. If this doesn't deter him from biting people, then remove yourself from the room when he bites you (only momentarily). When he sees that you leave every time he bites, he will stop biting so that you do not leave.

Get your pup into a puppy kindergarten. They get to romp and play with pups their own size and your trainer can help you to reinforce the NO command to help stop the biting. There are a number of control exercises that go along with the NO and are best shown and then monitored to make sure that you are doing them properly. If you do them wrong the pup may misinterpret your behavior for an invitation to play and bite you all the more.
Puppy Kindergartens are usually restricted to 10 - 20 week old pups.
Biting, although starting off as play is a practice session for dominance. In that light, while your looking for a Kindergarten, practice my favorite exercise. Never let a dog go out the door before you. In the wild only the top-dog leads through narrow passage ways. Practice at every door in your home, both ways, in and out. Put the leash on and simply make him wait until you go through the door. It has a wonderful effect on unwanted dominance behavior.

No matter where your puppy comes from, it's very important to socialize him! You still have a little guy though, so definitely wait until he finishes all of his shots.

A few tips to keep him from biting you; when he does nip make a high pitched noise. This can be an ow, or eep type noise, just make sure it's high pitched. Make sure everyone in the family and anyone visiting knows this rule so you have consistency. Also, don't play with your puppy just using your hands, when you're playing with him use a toy. This helps teach him to focus on the toy, not your hands. We have an 11 week old lap girl and once we started doing this with her she stopped nipping within 1-2 days.

UMMM, he is a puppy, hes GONNA bite. What worked for us is after he bites u, grab his muzzle and hold it shut until he whimpers. We have a 7 yr old female lab, a 3 yr old male lab and a 4 month old german shepherd. U should also search the legal situations on dog immunizations. Here in TX, it is a class c FELONY and a 5 thousand dollar fine to have an unvaccinated dog (if the authorities find out). U can also google ways to help/make them stop biting.

I know what your going through I have a german shepard the same age and he had the smae problem (except for it was cats not other dogs). We took a spray bottle and filled it with viniger and every time he would start chewing on somthing other than his toy or started misbehaving you spray him on the nose. It doenst hurt the dog , when dogs lick their nose they lick off the viniger and most of time they dont like the taste so after a while they start to learn that if they do somethingg they know there not supposed to they will get sprayed.

It's normal for puppy's to do this. When he bites you tell him NO, and hand him a chew toy, so he starts learning that it's not allowed to bite ppl or chew on the furniture, only chew toys. Take in mind that he also might be teething, so it's gums are sore/itchy!! Do not spank the puppy, this only creates fear for you. You don't want your pup to fear you, you want him to love you. Contrary to the above comment, do not give him your shoes or any of your things to play with b/c he will always do it, he needs his own toys to play with, not your stuff!

I might sound harsh, but it shouldn't matter if your dog is akc, ckc, or a mutt. It's a puppy for crying out loud. You wouldn't keep your kids from playing with other children just becasue of race, religion, ethiniticity would you? Also if you think that your neighbors dogs look unhealthy I would recommend calling animal control to have them go and inspect them. But please, don't seperate your dog from other dogs just because it is "a registered" dog. That isn't fair to your pup

I know it sounds cruel but if your little darling bites you ,you have to bite him back .But only gently, just enough that it hurts a little and that he knows the difference. This works brilliantly .Trust me i did it with my little dog,and he learned instantly .After i bit him he found himself getting gentler ,bit by bit.Or bite by bite.LOL.
