I've looked everywhere for some answers and all the websites have showed me are they different types of Hindu scriptures.
I need someone to tell me what "meaning" do the texts bring to a Hindu's life. If anyone can help me it will be so appreciative.
Thank you so much

Hinduism does not have a founder nor any text thats supposed to be the "core" of it. it has a collection of tests and scriptures. generally the "Vedas" are held in high regard as texts that teach about the core of Hinduism. some say its the "bhagavat gita" thats the core of Hinduism. whereas those from the south, especially tamil nadu would claim that the "thevarams+thiruvasakam" are the main texts. the bottom line is that no one hindu can claim that there are certain texts that explain what Hinduism is.

Hinduism does not have a central authority, hence its understandable that it does not have a "sacred text" thats worshiped as encompassing the entire Hindu teachings. its a collection of texts that make up the sacred literature in hinduism

hope this helps:)

The Vedas are a collection of stories and moral codes to follow. The Vedas present the main idea of Hinduism: You can only escape the wheel of life (samsara) and achieve liberation (moksha) by having no negative karma in one of your 'rebirths' or reincarnations. And you can only achieve it after death.

The Vedas (along with other hindu texts) were taught orally for the first 2000-3000 years of its exsistence, and eventually written down.

They tell the stories of how the Gods were born and came about.

They believe in the Vedas as their scriptural text. If you want in-detail info on it, take a peek at www.hinduismtoday.com I think the website has a parallel to their Jan/Feb/Mar 2007 issue which teaches people "What is Hinduism?" in a nice format... not all the scholarly stuff I've sucked down in college-level texts.
