None of them were. But all four were close to the disciples who knew Jesus.
Peace!

None knew Jesus except for John the Baptist, and each of those gospels were written many centuries after his death, which makes one wonder, just how did they know what events to write about since anything they did write about was more than secondhand gossip and storytelling. And of interest is mention of Mary Magdalene
And there are so many contradictions, take for instance John 1:18 - it states no one has seen God, however in the old testament, there is scripture indicating God came down to earth many times to meet with Moses in a tent protected by fire. One would ask: protected from what, exactly?check out Exodus 33:7. So if Moses saw God, what about all the other jews that were hanging around?

I agree with previous poster. St. Mathew was the tax collector and he wrote the gospel named after himself. St. John was the only apostle at the foot of the cross and he wrote the gospel named for himself.
St. Mark was the interpreter for St. Peter the apostle and was not an eye-witness to the life of Christ. He may have been a young man present when they came for Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane as he mentions details that are not in the other gospels. St. Luke was a disciple of St. Paul, not one of the original apostles.

Most Biblical scholars agree that none of the Gospel writers knew Jesus. Mark was written 70 AD and the rest were written well after that. The only books of the New Testament that were written earlier were authored by Paul and he readily admits that he did not know Jesus. There are no first hand accounts of Christ's life.

Most evidence dates authorship of The Gospel of Mark to about AD 70, Matthew and Luke to about AD 85-90, and John to about AD 100.
So to answer your question, "not likely".
There is extant quite a lot of evidence to suggest that "Christianity" was a scheme hatched to get gentiles to "tithe" 10% of their earnings to the "authorities" the way Jews already were, and that sounds very 'typical of humans' to me, or maybe I'm just an old cycnic!

on an analogous time because it somewhat is actual that their names have not “been signed on the dotted line” of any of the copies of the gospels that have been stumbled on, scholars and the early church the two affixed the names of the authors with their gospels. Matthew, a tax collector additionally primary as Levi and between the twelve disciples, wrote the 1st gospel interior the recent testomony of Matthew. John Mark, who replaced right into a pal of the disciple Peter, wrote the e book of Mark. And Luke, who replaced into Paul’s healthcare expert, wrote the e book of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. the biggest reason we are in a position to declare with fact that those books have been written by potential of those authors is twofold: first, there's no opposition. no person else in rather much 2000 years has claimed to have written them or somebody uncovered information in any different case. the different reason is the lack of impression credibility thought. it works something like this: If I have been to place in writing a e book approximately Jesus that replaced into fake and needed people to have faith it, might i decide directly to place down the call of a tax collector, who's by potential of far not the main enjoyed person? No i might decide on somebody with some impression and know. Nor might I positioned down the call of a 2d hand person. i might %. between the twelve disciples that I felt replaced into the main honest and nicely enjoyed and positioned their call down because of fact the author of my artwork. those did not take place. Edit: actual the earliest fragments of the 1st 3 Gospels have been written 25 years after His demise. The originals have been certainly written previously!
