i would like to know if it is safe to wipe some baby oil on my 5 year old daschunds back his skin became dry a little

It would not be ideal because the dog will then lick and ingest the baby oil, causing a whole new amount of problems. I would suggest wasing him with a shampoo that contains oatmeal or giving him a dog vitamin supplement (such as 3V caps).

Woody needs a food with omega oils in it to help his skin. they need oil because all dogs get dryskin when the weather changes. I used skin so soft by avon on mine and that also helps keep fleas from biting also But the dachunds never really got fleas. They never attracted them. Thak goodness.

Dry skin in dogs could mean other health problems, especially in an older dog. When my dog's skin got dry and her hair started to fall out, it was her thyroid. I'd encourage you to take your dog to the vet to get him thoroughly checked over.

Yes it is safe, but if your dachshund is having dry flaky skin, it may be a food allergy. My dachshund was allergic to the dog food I was feeding her, changed food, no more flaky skin.
