My Shih Tzu is 65 days pregnant today. She still has no signs of going into labor. How long before I should get worried? Her milk came in a week ago. She mostly just wants to lay around and not do anything.

Well, she went into labor today, day 67. So far she has had 4 boys and 1 girl. I can still feel at least one more in there. She is doing great!!!!

If she is not showing any signs of being in any kind of distress then she is probably fine. She close but she just not quite ready yet. If you have been hovering around her she may hold the pups back until she feels more comfortable to deliver her pups. Just treat her normally and she will be fine.

Well I had the same problem with a first litter. We kept waiting and waiting alllll day.. nothing so we went to the mall the next day when still nothing.. when we got home.. the Easter Shih Tzu had been there and laid a puppy on each bed and one on the couch. We lost all of them but one because she had nobody home with her to clean the birth membranes away and to encourage her to stay in her box and work with the puppys. You will not believe how we solved this problem.. We bred her and let the male stay in the house with her. He cleaned her first fluids when she started in labor like a little nurse. He cruised around the birthing box and even looked like he might jump in but we drew the line at that. After birthing he cleaned her rump and sat by the box looking at her and the puppys. We weren't sure of him so we shut him on the porch at night but next litter they stayed together the whole time and it was great. I never saw such puppy love devotion. I kept one surviving female from that litter and for the next litter, the puppys had an Aunt Lulee who even sat in the box and babysat the pups when Daisy wanted some time off. such smart little dogs.... :)

for smaller dogs they usually deliver around 60 days and usually in bigger dogs they can go around 65 days... you really need to take her to the vets ASAP... she could be having problems or something could be wrong with the babies... you said her milk came in a week ago... do you mean drippin? leakin? the pups need the first part of milk from the momma (the colostrum) its very important for the pups!! hope she has the pups and everythings ok

If she is due today then the puppies are most likely coming in the next few days. I say after about a week call your vet.

she should be having pups you should probably take her to the vet. the gestation period of a shi tzu is 35 to 65 days following conception. odd isn't it

I don't know if you should get worried. I would just keep a close eye on her and be very nice to her. Good luck with the babies! :)
