I suffer from sinus headaches this time of year, and there is virtually no medication that is effective in preventing my headaches, so I just have to treat the pain when one comes along. I took 2 Excedrine this morning and 2 this afternoon...about 6 hours apart. I still have a headache and it's been about 45 minutes since the last dose. Can I take a couple of Ibuprophen in combonation with the Excedrine? What is the correct dose of Acetaminophen, Aspirin, and Ibuprophen when taken together?

During this time of year you may want to ask your MD. for a more adequate pain reliever.Adult dosage of Excedrine is 2 tablets every 4 hours.Ibuprofen 2 tablets every 6 hours. You can safely alternate these meds,or take one of each at the same time .I would suggest that you give up the Excedrin because of the aspirin, and the Ibuprofen both have anticoagulant properties, and could cause some internal bleeding, and gastric ulcers, along with many other side effects, there are other meds you can take that are not NSAID's Take care. It's not the dosage that concerns me but the fact u r taking so many pain relievers, which should be with food, but even without food, the melds u r taking r going straight through r liver which is not good at all! For 1 thing I think u should see r Dr. & find out what these headaches are sustained from & why so often? He may send you to a neursurgeon as at you're age stress can't be the only factor, take it from me I get Migraine's at the drop of a dime, but I can't take those meds cause of the one's I'm on 13 in total. Why can't u see r Dr. Are u in Canada r US with no Medical
Coverage? Well, Sweety I think this one may be serious, as how
can someone have so may headaches daily and Sinus's won't bring on that much, unless u deal with Sinus Problem 1st. You have the tools Compurter use r "search engine" to direct you to Sinus's or you may want to start with the Health Brd. of r Country
not alot of Sinus prob but u'll find yours and something new too.
Look up r problem 2 the core of it & diagnose yourself, I know you
can do it, then carry on with headaches & meds. R a big Girl now
Best of Luck,

I get headaches all the time and i have found that some days if i wait they do go away. It depends on the cause. I know that my breathing is not so great at night. Also I need to drink lots of water when i have one or they get unbearable. so dehydration is a key. For those reasons I dont take anything for the first half hour after waking up. Even if the pain is blinding Occasionally however I find the very medicin itself is causing a chemical headache. taking more only makes it worse. on mild headaches I have found that peppermint gum or other peppermint candies really improve matters. I havent found a natural cure that is effective on severe pain good luck

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

You're not supposed to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen together. Why not call your pharmacy and ask them to suggest something.

Call your local pharmacist. They should know the answer to your question.
