nVertigo is a loss of balance usually occurring when there is no visual reference to a horizontal plane. Certain motions of the head will cause fluid motion in the inner ear and the feeling that one is leaning. If you correct this feeling without a visual reference the you will fall over. Vertigo can be common when flying when there is no visible horizon or in blowing snow where the where the movement of the snow going by distorts the senses into thinking you are moving when in reality you are not.
