Yes, it does. People are too nosy and paranoid.
Your kid can accidentally fall down the stairs and break an arm and you'll have social services on the doorstep.
All the while, there's a kid chained to the radiator for years in the apartment next to you and nobody knows or cares....

The sad thing is..
My friends 3 year old climbed out of his crib, opened his door, and climbed a baby gate in the middle of the night and fell down the stairs. She did everything she could to keep that from happening short of putting a padlock on his bedroom door. She almost got her son taken away for that and it was an accident
My neighbors do drugs, yell, scream, beat eachother and neglect their children etc. I have called the police and child services and NOTHING has been done.
You never know what is really going on in some homes. Sometimes, innocent people end up getting checked out too, because its better to be safe than sorry when it comes to a childs life. You wouldnt want to see a child getting beaten, not do anything about it, and then have it on your concience if the child ends up dead.
We all have to do what we can to protect innocent children. Sure, some people take it too far, but like I said, better safe than sorry.

Ive only dealt with social services 1 time.
My daughter was 4. She was walking by the front door as my son went to come inside. She got a little shiner. I took her to school the next day , told the teacher what happened, told her if my daughter complained to call me Id come get her and take her to the Dr to see if he could give her something for pain...... She asked my daughter what happened, she told her the door knob hit her eye. It was an accident.
3 WEEKS later a DCFS lady called me and said someone reported me for child abuse, I said excuse me.... she said your daughter had a black eye. She said she needed to see the children. She came to my home an hour later. I had to get the kids from school.
The black eye was gone, my daughter told her how it happened, The case worked said there is no abuse here !! I said yeah ya think !!!
Then i went off on the case worker...... I told her what the hell was wrong with the state. My child had that black eye 3 weeks before that, if in deed someone was worried tat I could be abusing my child why did they wait 3 weeks?????? I filed a complaint with the state. What would have happened to the child had she been abused, 3 weeks is too damn long. 2 days is too long to not check up on a suspicion.

There are things that get all blown out of proportion, like a mom who gives her kid a spanking for running around screaming like a banshee in a grocery store and then the mom gets thrown in jail. I'd be more worried about the kids whose parents are on drugs and absent all the time.

Definitely. If a kid falls down and hurts him/herself (whether it be as simple as a bruise or as serious as a broken bone) people automatically start thinking child abuse and CPS is knocking on their door. I fell off a chair when I was 2 and got a large cut on my forehead and my mom had CPS come to her house. Luckily, the CPS person realized it was a simple accident that couldnt be avoided and my mom didnt get in any trouble. We cant shield our kids from everything but it looks like we're going to have to try like hell to do just that if we want to keep them.

yes! when my brother was little he ran into the corner of a wall and needed stiches....it took forever because they asked him over and over what happened, then my parents, and then me....they seriously thought it was child abuse until I showed them exactly what he did. (he liked to spin when he walked and spun himself smack into the corner of the wall....wall meets head and leaves big gash needing stitches lol.)

yes it does - then when a woman's 3 year old decides to throw a fit in Walmart because she won't buy him candy, she can't paddle his but for fear that she'll go to jail!
