Be polite to her parents (yes mam, no mam)
compliment only when sincere
ask questions that require more than a yes or a no (polite questions) no very personal questions like 'how many boys have you dated' or 'do your parent smoke a lotta dope?'
listen to her answers
get her home on time
watch her body language to find out if she wants to kiss you goodbye

A lot of dating is ceremony---much of it is to compliment the girl, so that she will feel secure and relaxed enough to pay attention to you in a serious way.
If you refuse to conform to certain traditions and ceremonies that dating demands, you are sending a mixed message.
The point of the date is to "relate" to her---this means being polite, chatting about various things, and being pleasant. If you feel this is impossible for you, you shouldn't be dating, because she will be looking at you, and judging your dating skills. You have the power to ask her out, but she has the power to judge how you acted.
There is no such thing as being too well-groomed.
This is also the time to find out if you have any interests in common. It's a good time to ask about her family, siblings, etc, and compare this information with your own.
Women also like to talk, and to listen. If you do not chat or talk with her, she might assume you have no interest in her.

you can't really teach a person how to date another person.
just be yourself and try to have fun.
don't worry about being nervous or anything...just keep the conversations going and try to have a good time.

do you know the girl is it a blind date...if you know them what do you have in common? go with what you know, and don't be embarrassed or shy about them or yourself.
