I have shot a Bretta 8mm and a Smith and Wesson .40 and I am not good with either! And the ammo is expensive. What kind of .22 pistol would be the best for me to start off on for a beginner pistol shooter. I am going to attend a beginners pistol corse at my local gun range too!
I'll add that I would love to have a .22 replica of a Whalter ppK. And please include the price of the gun you are reccomending. Thanks!
P.S. Before you say I'm too young to buy a pistol let me tell you that my Dad is going to help me buy one!

These are all 22 caliber and very high quality weapons I got my first at age 16 and when my son was 16 I gave it to him and he is 28 now and it will given to his son at age 16.
Now do you get the idea how durable they are, and I grew up on a large ranch and shot it more time then you could believe and my son also grew up out in the country and hunted and target practiced on our land, this Ruger he has is well used and still shoots like it was new.
When I gave my son that one I had to go get me another one and then another one.
Now I have 2 and my son has my original one.
I would not keep buying them if the were not top of the line.
To be totally honest I am looking at the new style MK II or III 22-45 it’s still a 22 but the magazine release is different and a little different change in style but still Ruger Qualaty.
Then i will have 3.
Ruger 22 MK I or MK II or MK III or the MK II 22-45 or MK III 22-45
Look at the links to see the style of weapon but you can get it at a lot less money then what you see here, check out the local gun shops for better prices.

I think you shot a Beretta 9mm (not 8mm). I would still suggest getting a 9mm. It is the cheapest ammo to buy for a major handgun and you will appreciate it later. A Ruger is an inexpensive brand.
If you want a .22 long rifle pistol, I would suggest the Ruger Mark IV target pistol. It is a blast to shoot, very accurate, and a great gun to learn on. The ammo is super cheap and the gun is great. If I bought a .22, I would get this gun.
You might also consider a revolver if you want a .22. I am sure some other people can suggest a good one. I think the Walther .22 is overpriced.

Ruger is hard to beat. Mark III. Accurate, reliable, about 250-450$. Browning also has comparable firearms, but they are single action semi-auto . Single action = light trigger and most full size pistols have longer heaver triggers (first shot in Double action) with the exception of some striker fire pistols (Glock) or Single action autos like the 1911. Trigger control is very important in pistol shooting.
If you want a gun to mimic a DA/SA (many full size semi-autos) . Sig has the Mosquito which has a MSRP of 380$. I have a .40 Sig and it is the best shooting pistol i've ever shot. Also a .22 revolver would be nice.

Forget the PPK kind of pistol. You want something with a longer barrel and therefore something of a sight plane. I'd recommend a Ruger, preferably one of the revolvers like the Single Six, with the 5 1/2" or 6 1/2" barrel, though the Bearcat with its 4" barrel may fit your hand better. If you just have to have an autoloader, theirs is not a bad place to start, either, but to learn with I'd recommend the single action revolver with the moderately long barrel as the best handgun to learn with. You can also use it for short-range small game hunting, which you can't do with anything as small as you're thinking of with the PPK-style.

S&W Model 2213 is a great gun for target shooting. Pain to break down and clean, but great for a begining target shooter.
You didn't mention your age, so its kind of a moot point if you're under 21, up to your folks what they buy.
As a first firearm, I'd recommend a single shot .22 bolt action. Learn the basics before moving into pistols or semi auto rifles.

Check out the Ruger Single-Six. A single action .22 is easy to care for and shoot. The single action is great for learning a proper grip and sight picture.
Check out the Taurus line of handguns. These are moderately priced guns in a range of handgun calibers and types. Very good value for the money.

Everyone has different things they like in a gun especially a handgun. One that might feel right in your hand might not in the next guys. You dont need a top of the line handgun especially if your planning to get a bigger one. so, 1.Stay away from cheap ones 2. maks sure if feels good and fits good in your hand. 3. It will help if you get one with adjustible sights because with fixed sights if it doesnt hit where its sopposed to your screwed.
PS. It does take a lot more time to be a good shot with a pistol than any other gun. Most of all have fun!

I have also been searching for a gun that my parents are going to buy me i have shot a Colt .9MM, .38 super,Glock 9mm,and a taurus 9mm.....
from the ones i have shot i really liked the glock and the taurus.....so i have decided to either get a walther p22 with a 5" barrel that you can add...or a taurus 9MM but i am really leaning on the p22 they look modern and look high tech and people recommend it, parents wont argue it being just a .22.....with the 5" it should be somewhat accurate at long distances.....and the 300-400$ price is unbeatable.....

Beretta .8mm??? I didn't know Beretta made an .8mm pistol! That said, look at the Walters P-22 in your choice of finishes. It is a handsome little pistol available with an extra 5" barrel for about $105. more dollars.
I got one with the shorter barrel and fitted laser sight and I love shooting it.

Try a 9mm. I would recommend a 92 series Beretta. The price range is from $800-$850. Another good pistols are Springfield. It can get too pricey, but the Springfield XD (9mm) series is at $500-$650. Very nice pistol. If you are truly wanting of a Walther PPK, there is a .32 and a .380 caliber. Get the .380. Price is at the $550 range. Good luck.
