The way I've always trained my dogs not to pull is by keeping the leash short but a little on the loose side to start with and the dog by my left side. Start walking forward while you say "easy" or "heel", depending on how formal you want to be. When the dog starts to pull, reverse direction while saying the same word you used when you started walking. (Make your 180 degree turn to your right so that the dog has to walk around you.) Keep doing this until the dog gets the idea. Then reward the dog with a walk, reversing direction and reiterating the command "easy" or "heel" each time the dog pulls on the leash. Whenever your dog is not pulling, remember to tell her what a good dog he is in a very enthusiastic voice. Good luck! Like I said...this worked for me more than once!

Well, my dog does the same exact thing.
At doors, make him stay until all the humans walk through the door.
Reward him when he is not pulling, but discipline him when he is pulling.
I myself use a Halti with my dog. You may have also heard of the Gentle Leader. It is a harness type thing that looks like a muzzle, but it isn't. It should help decrease your dog's pulling, but it won't stop it. Highly recommended
You could use a chain choke, but must dogs have a lot of resistance to it.
There is also another kind of choke chain that is really helpful, but I forget what it is called. It is a choke collar with spikes that won't hurt the dog. When the dog pulls, it tightens, which than mimicks the mom carrying the dog around with her teeth.
Good Luck!

Oops, I forgot to mention that you can also buy harnesses. There are many types that go under the legs and attach to a leash. Try google, too.

You need a prong collar for your dog. The prong is used for breeds with a high correction level, as your breed is.

Ask the pet supplier if they can show you the proper way of fitting a collar and its use.

It may look archaeic, but it is a neccessity for the type of dog you have, and to gain control of your dog.

Please consider getting a trainer. Obedience training is a must for a dog like yours. You want people to look at him for his friendly personality and good citizenship. People don't act well to a dog that is not controlled and pulling their owner everywhere.

Good Luck.

Don't know how to stop, but most harnesses will encourage pulling. My pit also doesn't react to choke collar nor a spiked collar. Try training treats or take him to training. Good luck! I'll be keeping my eye on the postings for better recommendations.

Get a gentle leader. I have a lab/pit mix and she's about 75lbs but very strong. I put it on her in the pet store and amazing difference. (After she nearly dragged me thru the parking lot) Check out the web site. I totally recommend it. Humane Too.
I don't like the spike or choker collars cuz sometimes the dog just doesn't get that its choking itself. Tried that and just doesn't work as well.

Gentle leader is the best. Never let your dog lead you. You should always be the leader of the pack. The pulling is a sign of dominance. He is showing you he is the pack leader. You need to reverse the roles.

when he pulls, simply stand on the leash and wait until he stops. if you pull back, hes more likely to pull even more.

First of all, Do not try to lead him let him lead you. Just to start off with. Then work your way up to walking beside him and then he will let you lead the way once he gets use to it.
