Get a vet that you like. You will need a regular vet anyways. Many times in the next year, you will need someone to call for advice. A regular established vet will be your voice of calm and reason when you have a pup that has a medical emerg. or has eaten a sock (!)

Build a relationship with a vet you like. This relationship will last you the next 13-15 years.

I would NOT recc. vaccinating your dog yourself. Especially a pure bred puppy. Vaccination reactions are very common, and can be a danger.

Why are you so interested in 'low cost vaccinations'? I am sure you paid a pretty penny for a 'pure bred'. Why not use quality veterinary care as well?

Especially when it comes to things like rabies vaccinations....yes the vaccinations are tech. the same, but rabies is not valid, unless given by a vet. Could be a legal issue in the future ( always keep that in mind).

You should also be aware that more things should be done than vaccinate the pup...have a fecal sample checked (which breeders do not do) The fecal is going to check for all intestinal parasites, some of whick can be transfered to people. Many breeders worm the puppies, but different dewormers take care of different worms...there are quite a few parasites out there

You wouldn't vaccinate and diagnose your children, why do it to your family pet?

Pet store "discount" vaccinations are just as good as vet. You will want to get your pup in to the vet for a checkup anyway, and this is a good time to go through the second set of shots.

I vaccinate all my animals myself but they always get a yearly checkup at the vet. I use pet store vaccination clinics for rabies and others of my family use them for full vaccination series without problem.

You should be able to buy the vaccinations from your vet and administer it yourself, its really easy, just pull up on the back of the neck and give the shot in the skin, also you'll need to worm your pup too.

you can get dog vaccines at any farm store. But most kennel will not accept dogs with these vaccines. I use them sometimes because I 8am to 5pm job and can't always go to the vet. Try foster & smith .com they pretty good prices.

No take your pup to a real vet. There they can do a much better check up for you and hopefully everything will be fine. If not then they can better help you get your new pup on the right track.
