Most likely the end of mankind will be an asteroid hit, as an example, in 1994 a large comet hit Jupiter. The Hubble telescope recorded the impact with terrifying accuracy. As it entered the atmosphere of Jupiter temperatures reached 20,000 degrees. The impact sent a fireball thousands of kilometres into space.
The damage of such an impact on Earth could kill all life. Huge earthquakes would streak around the globe at thousands of kilometres an hour, destroying all in their path. It would also trigger volcanic eruptions all over the world. A huge dust cloud would be sent into the atmosphere. Gasses released into the atmosphere would cause intensely acidic rain and destroy the ozone layer. A vast fireball would be sent into the sky. However devastating these would be, the real danger would be from the dust clouds sent into the atmosphere. The amount of debris released into the upper atmosphere would block out the sun, trigger a nuclear winter and potentially kill all life on Earth..☺

326,000,000 cubic miles of water on Earth X (5280ft/mi X12in/ft X 2.54cm/in)^3 X 1calorie/ccH2O/degC / 10^15 calories/MegaTon of TNT
That is the formula for how much energy a one degree rise in the ocean equals, in terms of 1 MegaTon atomic bombs. That one deg rise has already happened and is expected to reach 3-5 degrees in the next 20-50 years. That energy becomes bad weather. That is where storms come from.
Do the math and you will see that EACH 1 degC change has the same energy as 1.3 billion, YES BILLION, atomic bombs.
That is the scariest thing I can thing of happening, a real "end of the world, doomsday device scenario". I am not willing to ignore it and say it doesn't exist. I AM doing something about it.

I think it'll be either disease or a 'from-space' event. Could be an asteroid, comet, some huge force from a distant system that we don't even know exists yet, or even an unusual fluctuation of the Sun.
I don't think a nuclear weapon will ever be used on Earth again - there are far more deadly weapons available, if anyone wishes to inflict maximum casualties.

the funny thing about this is that seemingly EVERY generation thought "wow, the world is the craziest it's ever been, we must be close to the end!!"
don't be fooled into thinking our time is special; it's not!!
at any rate, what about an electro-magnetic-pulse (EMP) bomb that shut down the whole grid, and there goes your microwave! what will you eat?! that will be the end of the world, for most people anyway.
when the freeways become parking lots i'll be riding my bike, laughing!

in 20 or so years we will be hit by an atreroid unless we stop(thats very unlikely for us to stop.) and we will all slowly die unless by luck some of the human race survive.ive see multiple documentaries on this. about 5 or 6 on the history channel, and about 3 or 4 on the discovery channel. and thats if we dont bomb or selves to death or devolope an unstopable germ and release it first.

They have been talking about the end of mankind since the beginning of mankind and nothing has worked. In fact with 6.5 billion and growing, I don't think it will ever happen.

I have to tell you that there are so many ways we could meet our demise that it scares me to think about it. Sometimes I think a gigantic asteroid would be merciful.
