I found some spyware on my pc and tried to delete it. I thought it was and found that it was not. So I am wondering if there is a site in which I could check to see if someone has stole my identity, or maybe even find out if someone has tried to get credit under my name. I am a single father and I am trying to buy a home for me and my son. As everyone else in this country, I could not afford to have someone buying under my name. If anyone has any answers, then please, your help would be gret appreciated, thank you.

If you haven't gotten a copy of your credit report, you should. Everyone is entitled to one free copy per year. Go to the website below to get it.

Check it over carefully. You want to look for any accounts that are not yours. You also want to look at who has made inquiries on your account. If anyone has applied for credit in your name, you'll see an inquiry.

There are three credit reporting agencies. You can get all three reports in one day or do what I do and spread them out over the year. In your case, you might want to check Experian today, go back on in a couple months and get your TransUnion report and a few months after that and get your Equifax report. That way, you can sort of track it for a while and see if there is any unusual activity.

If you really think someone might have stolen your identity, you need to have all three agencies put a fraud alert on your account. I'm attaching the link to the FTC website on what to do if your identity is stolen.
