Ezekiel 5:1 And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber's razor, and cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
that means they had barbers and if they had razors i think they had scizzors

I agree with the statementthat the artists themselves most likely looked like this. Ever see a bust of Caesar? He didn't have long hair, and Jesus probably looked like the people of the day. Hairwise , that is. btw, sorry Midge, there is no account of Jesus taking a Nazarite vow. Jesus was a Nazarene, not a Nazarite. There is a difference.

Wasnt Jesus a Nazarite, meaning that, like Sampson and John the Babtist, he could not ever comb or cut his hair or beard?
I think thats right, but Im not sure.
And anyway, dont bother with drawings of Jesus. There Graven Images that portray a Jewish man as a white guy.

(Sorry, my spelling is wrong I'm not sure how to spell it)
Even if they used a knife to cut their hair. They would only be able to cut it should length. I can't imagine that the guys hair back then would be very short like the guys hair are now days. Thank you for the bible verses. I have been looking for the other's one besides the one in 1Corinthians. God bless.

I think it's because he's suppose to be a young man. All young men during Medieval and Romanticism have long hair and look like women

Men who took the Nazarite Vow were forbidden to cut their hair (Samson for example) . This Vow designated them as being set aside for the Lord. This is why Jesus had long hair.

No one knows.
And no one knows what Jesus looks like other than he was from the Middle East and Jewish.

Perhaps because that's what the artist looked like, just a guess.

Because he was a liberal during his time, and everyone thinks of long haired people with beards when they think of a liberal.
