I have noticed that all of my questions that i have posted, almost all of the people that support nascar know nothing about racing. For one- This guy Billy S, claims that Nascar is the most popular racing in the world. No, it is not. Formula 1 is by far the most popular racing series worldwide. Second, I saw somebody mention that nascar is stealing open wheel stars. Sam Hornish is pretty good at racing ovals, but he is not very good on the road courses. That will tell you something right there. As far as A.j. allmendinger is concerned, he was in one of the faster teams in champ car, and each race he won, sebastion bourdais was taken out. Plus, allmendinger would have stayed in champ car, but the red bull nascar team offered him more money. These drivers listed dont even come near being the best drivers in the world. So listen you idiot nascar fans on here: Dont post questions and answers when you have no idea what you are talking about. Formula 1 is the TOP series in the world.

to the guy who said open wheel driver say nascar is challenging- They say it because why would you want to race a slow heavy car on small tires? Plus, nascar is pretty much just a high speed demolition derby. I mean, it attracts the same crowd (toothless hillbillies that dont know anything about racing). The cars all look the same, the drivers cant do anything except turn left, and all they do is crash into each other, because they dont know how to pass. Bottom line- Nascar is a joke, and should be treated as such.

i agree that formula is far superior to nascrap. if they changed nascar to actually be in the 21st century instead of the 1960s like it is now. and stop this stupid oval track racing b.s. then i'd watch and the "sport" of nascrap might just be able to actually compete with better technology as scca and formula one employ. Perhaps complete carbon fiber cars as well as more erfficient engines like formula 1's and racing road tracks like leguna seca and lemans instead of ovals as it wouldn't require new tracks to be built. and if the nascar people don't like it they can go dig a hole and cry in it.

I've commented in the past on the many F1/etc vs NASCAR... and hwile I have my favorite between the two I have nothing against the other. But I do have to comment about the earlier mention of safety. While I think NASCAR has a lot of talented drivers and does many things well, one place it is completely lacking compared to just about every other racing series is safety! The thought that it is somehow safer than F1 is to not understand what makes a race car safe.

NASCAR has been greatly limited in part by the traditionalist attitude in the sport, which is the same one often displayed here by fans of the sport. There have been great advances in safety in the last 20 years... many are still ignored, and all were ignored until the death of a major star - and how many years has that been and the exact same accident today would have the exact same result? However, attitudes in motorsports often persist, and the bigger problem is the lack of any external sanctioning or auditing. The Car Of Tomorrow at least addresses some of this... but it is just SOME and years after the fact. This is not something I would consider "safer."

How interesting that there were only two intelligent responses, then again I dont expect much from an unintelligent question. IMHO open wheel racing is superior to Nascar, that doesnt mean I am going to bash Nascar here as I enjoy that as well. However when looking at crossover success you have to admit that open wheel racers for the most part enjoy success at the cup level where as not many cup drivers have ever enjoyed success at open wheel racing. Stewart would be a prime example of this he enjoyed success at every level he participated in however he in most minds is considered an open wheel racer first and foremost. Even when there was not a lot of sponsor issues with doing cross over stuff(some racers must envy foyt, and andretti in this) not many stock car drivers were welcomed into open wheel racing and thats on any level. Today I think an open wheel driver would be able to come to Nascar and enjoy moderate success while a driver from Nascar would find it hard to run in an open wheel series(especially champ, or F1).

As for the original poster your a complete ***.

look here you no talent hack. Not all Nascar fans are toothless hillbillies who drink the damn time they are there. At least in Nascar the tires don't blow up every five seconds that only 7 cars were able to enter. I know that was Indy, but what is the difference. In my opinion and opinion Nascar is alot more fun than F1 or Indy. Sam Hornish Jr was an Indy racer not an F1 racer and plus this is about Nascar not F1. Go to that side of the road and leave Nascar to us redneck hillbillies.

NASCAR is the most popular form of racing in the United States. Formula 1 is more popular everywhere else, but statistically, I'm not sure it is more popular than Rally car.

The appeal to some people for NASCAR is the fact that all the cars are relatively the same and that it is the drivers and pit crews that determine the winner.

You are correct in saying that NASCAR is not the most popular racing circuit worldwide, but I don't think you needed an entire post just to insult people.

Your acting just as pathetic as you are calling NASCAR fans, and that stereotype is stupid. NASCAR fans are well educated and just because of its orgins in the south doesnt mean that everyone who watches the sport is like that. Thats just your opinion that F1 is more popular and thats its better but NASCAR probably has more revenue and more fans, and no on ever really talks about F1, on the news and on sports they spend a ton of time broadcasting NASCAR information and little to none about the other series, and its just a different racing style which makes it harder. If your a NASCAR driver and get into a F1 car it will be faster and harder, yet if your in F1 and get into a NASCAR then you will say its harder to handle and drive. Just an opinion.

I know plenty about racing in general and I'm a NASCAR fan.. I can't speak for the rest of these people on here that "claim to be NASCAR fans"... Sometimes I just dont know about some of my fellow AMERICANS... But as 1 die-hard NASCAR fan here I have to say this... I don't know why more of you guys don't get into open-wheel racing.. I mean sure, Im still going to watch NASCAR over IRL/CART/F1 when it's on.. But the other racing isn't "boring" or "not true racing".. The things they do are just as great and talented as what are boys do week in, and week out. Ive been to 6 NASCAR races, and 3 IRL races.. And let me tell you.. Those damn IRL cars @ TMS running 225 is something! I don't give a damn if you are a NASCAR fan till the day you die, You need to respect the other racing series and realize how much talent it takes to be in ANY of these series. As far as CART/F1 go.. I only get to watch those on TV ofcourse being here in Texas. But, I love watching F1 races when I get the time on SPEED and CART is so-so.. But Just because I don't enjoy watching CART as much as the others doesn't make the race-car drivers any less talented or the racing any crappier. It's just doesn't always keep my attention. I wish some of you other NASCAR fans could see some of the other racing through my eyes, not just use your racist insticts to mock international-racing.

it's funny I see a lot of the Nascar fans calling an F1 car a go kart, ok if it's such a go cart then why can it take a corner at 200+, why is it the average speed for F1 cars is in the 220+ region, why is it F1 cars can theoretically with the downforce created by their bodies drive on the tunnel ceiling upside down but yet a Nascar cup car can barely take a sweeping banked corner at only 180 plus... Nascar is hated because the cars run the same damn engine yes a Chevy runs the same engine a Ford does and vise versa the cars are identical bill boards capable of barely 200 mph and they can only turn left... I could have more fun watching my **** go down the crapper it's the same principle

If F1 is so frickin great how come they cheat by using TRACTION CONTROL? Yes i said they CHEAT by using it. Cant they drive the car without it? Does it have too much power for them? Yes it does that's why they cant drive them. NASCAR has become the #2 sport only second to the NFL. Seriously though we cant compare NASCAR and F1. They are apples and oranges. Too many differences. Each is great in there respective catagories. Typical F1 fan here everybody. They always think they are better than everybody else. It's a negativity to there personal character. People like this are unliked in the world because of it. They have to vent like this to try and prove there worth but always end up showing there true colors with there childish ranting. Tell your great sport to stop cheating and i'll start watching it. If you want to see some real racecar drivers in action, watch a World Rally Champioship race and see some real drivers in action. F1 after the initial start has to be one of the most boring races in any form of racing in the world !!!!!!!!!

NASCAR is more popular here in the US because it came about by ordinary, working class guys who just went out to race their own cars for the love of racing and a little bit of money. It has since evolved into a corporate run sport like any other, but the idea of anyone being able to follow this dream really appealed to the core of our country. Blue collar, working class Americans loved watching another guy like thmselves go out and race their car because it made them feel like they could too. NASCAR has a traditional fan base far deeper than any other racing sport. Don't be so bitter about it. Formula 1 is just not as appealing to the average race fan. Most people don't identify with the drivers. I'm glad you have such a passion for your type of racing. But, you don't need to go on like a raving madman because others don't agree. Relax!
