There are several different types of abortion.

In the earliest phases of pregnancy the first few week abortion can be done using a drug which causes the body to reject the embryo and expel it from he body.

Up until the end of the first trimester abortion is generally similar to a dilation and curtalidge (D&C) where by they doctor will dilate the cervix and uterus and insert a small "vacuum and remove the contents of the uterus. This effectively stops the pregnancy.

In very rare and medically necessary instances (where the mother's life is in jeopardy) Labour will be enduced and the baby will be delivered. It may live for a few moments however seeing as though the baby is extrememly premature it will not survive.
Keep in mind this is a very rare occurance.

Abortion is legal and sometimes a medically necessary procedure for the health and wellbeing of the mother.

well it all depends on when you have the abortion, how far along in the pregnancy yuo are. most places will not perform abortions after the baby is 12 weeks... Generally performed in the first or early second trimester. The cervix is dilated or stretched to permit the insertion of a loop shaped steel knife. The body of the fetus is cut up and removed from the placenta7.
Blood loss and likelihood of uterine perforation are relatively high in this form of abortion
This method, first used in Nazi concentration camps and now common in America, is performed during the second or early third trimester. A needle is injected into the abdomen, and 50-250ml of amniotic liquid is removed12. This is replaced by a concentrated salt that burns away and deteriorates the baby's skin13. Within three days the mother goes into labor and delivers a dead, burned baby14.
This concentrated salt may cause severe hemmorage, cervical injuries, or side effects to the nervous system such as seizures or coma15
The most common (98%) form of first trimester abortion6. The cervix is dilated, and a powerful vacuum tube with a sharp cutting edge is inserted. The suction rips apart the body of the baby, and sucks out blood, amniotic fluid, tissue, and body parts7.
The most frequent post-abortion complication occurs with this method. If any fetal or placental tissue is left behind in the uterus, infection can develop. Generally performed in the second trimester, this is similar to D&C. Forceps are used to rip away pieces of the developing body and remove them from the womb. Because the skull has often hardened by this time, it may have to be crushed for removal.
Bone fragments from the crushed skull can easily puncture the cervix, causing high blood loss. Performed during the late second or third trimester. Using ultrasound, the abortionist grasps the baby's leg with forceps, and partially forcefully delivers all but the head. Scissors are then jammed into the back of the babies skull, and the wound is pryed open. A powerful vacuum tube is inserted and sucks out the baby's brain.

Still want an abortion..

You kill the child. It is usually ripe apart by a vacuum fingers, arms, legs, head, etc. Or pickled to death and the skin is slowly burned off and child's absorbs the chemicals and slowly dies and then vacuumed. Either way the child has to be there first to have it killed. If you want to prevent a pregnancy try birth control and talk to your doctor. Abortion is ending a pregnancy. Fetuses nervous systems are complete by the time you will ever know you are pregnant so if you choose to have an abortion remember that that child can feel everything you choose to do to it. If you have an unwanted pregnancy have the kid and give it up for adoption there are so many good homes and people waiting to have a baby to adopt.

Usually, the abortionist kills the living baby inside the mother's womb and then removes him or her. These sites explain how it is done:

Did you know that before most women even know they are pregnant (just three weeks after conception), their baby's heart is already beating? Here is some information about the baby's development in the womb:

When you get an abortion (aka. D & C) they will take you in and you will feel a strong sharp pain at first .. then you will feel the pulling of them vaccuming the baby out of you and you will feel the feeling of lost shortly after that.

I pray that you get counseling if you have the abortion. It does effect you.

When my little girl died inside me they did the D & C and my baby left my womb I could actually feel it leave my body.

I went through the post pardom depression and every year at the time of the D & C and when she was to be born I would go through it again.

Please think about this very carefully.

Honestly they remove the baby from your womb with a suction like object which completely kills and stops the pregnancy all together. It is quite un humane but some women feel they have no other options in rape cases.

i don't know why your asking this question, but if you are considering an abortion you have to realize it is all up to you. people can express other options, but the decision is ultamitly up to you.

and with that said....... depending on what stage the embreo or fetus is in depends on what prosedure has to be done. it is best to ask a docter. it can be painful and it has a lot of risks like the inability to have more children after the abortion or even, in severe cases, severe severe severe cases, death. do not under any sercimstances do it yourself.

An abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. This can occur spontaneously as a miscarriage, or be artificially induced by chemical, surgical or other means. Commonly, "abortion" refers to an induced procedure at any point during pregnancy; medically, it is defined as miscarriage or induced termination before twenty weeks' gestation, which is considered nonviable.

In the first twelve weeks, suction-aspiration or vacuum abortion is the most common method.[12] Manual vacuum aspiration, or MVA abortion, consists of removing the fetus or embryo by suction using a manual syringe, while the Electric vacuum aspiration or EVA abortion method uses an electric pump. These techniques are comparable, differing in the mechanism used to apply suction, how early in pregnancy they can be used, and whether cervical dilation is necessary. MVA, also known as "mini-suction" and menstrual extraction, can be used in very early pregnancy, and does not require cervical dilation. Surgical techniques are sometimes referred to as STOP: 'Suction (or surgical) Termination Of Pregnancy'. From the fifteenth week until approximately the twenty-sixth week, a dilation and evacuation (D & E) is used. D & E consists of opening the cervix of the uterus and emptying it using surgical instruments and suction.

Dilation and curettage (D & C) is a standard gynecological procedure performed for a variety of reasons, including examination of the uterine lining for possible malignancy, investigation of abnormal bleeding, and abortion. Curettage refers to cleaning the walls of the uterus with a curette. The World Health Organization recommends this procedure, also called Sharp Curettage, only when MVA is unavailable.[13] Sharp curettage only accounted for 2.4% of abortion procedures in the US in 2002.[3] The term "D and C", or sometimes suction curette, is used as a euphemism for the first trimester abortion procedure, whichever the method used.

Other techniques must be used to induce abortion in the third trimester. Premature delivery can be induced with prostaglandin; this can be coupled with injecting the amniotic fluid with caustic solutions containing saline or urea. Very late abortions can be induced by intact dilation and extraction (intact D & X) (also called Intrauterine cranial decompression), which requires surgical decompression of the fetus's head before evacuation, and is sometimes termed "partial-birth abortion." A hysterotomy abortion, similar to a caesarian section but resulting in a terminated fetus, can also be used at late stages of pregnancy. It can be performed vaginally, with an incision just above the cervix, in the late mid-trimester.[citation needed]

From the 20th to 23rd week of gestation, an injection to stop the fetal heart can be used as the first phase of the surgical abortion procedure.[14]

Medical abortion
Main article: Medical abortion
Effective in the first trimester of pregnancy, medical (sometimes called chemical abortion), or non-surgical abortions comprise 10% of all abortions in the United States and Europe. Combined regimens include methotrexate or mifepristone, followed by a prostaglandin (either misoprostol or gemeprost: misoprostol is used in the U.S.; gemeprost is used in the UK and Sweden.) When used within 49 days gestation, approximately 92% of women undergoing medical abortion with a combined regimen experience completed it without surgical intervention.[15] Misoprostol can be used alone, but has a lower efficacy rate than combined regimens. In cases of failure of medical abortion, vacuum or manual aspiration is used to complete the abortion surgically

Either way abortion is murder. You're killing a human being. Only God can judge who dies or doesnt not the doctor. If you didnt want a baby then you should have used a condom.

abortion is MURDER..... PERIOD.

It depends on which kind. One of them, they rip the baby apart with a vacuum. The other one makes you have a baby premature, but it doesn't always die, I heard a story about a lady who had a live one then they killed it.
