gal exe is correct also the other one but she explains it better, miÂ´ija is a contraction of mi hija also used is miÂ´ijita ( my little daughter )

besides mija or for boys mijo...my daughter/son...it is just another affectionate way of addressing someone...ya its sometimes weird when strangers say it or someone who is about the same age since it usually older people saying it to us young folks
