And if it's before birth, then why do Christians often refer to themselves as "Born-again" instead of "Reconcieved" when trying to make it sound like they got a whole new life from their religion?

i wonder what they think of the disposal of embryos left over from IVF. is that murder?
what about all the early miscarriages that are so common (called chemical pregnancies) that almost every female will have multiple ones in her life (late period anyone?). or what they think about the fact that all these lives that start at the fertilization of the egg that just get flushed out of the body. are these horrible deaths that should be mourned? perhaps funerals should be given for all these lives?

I sure would like to hear a GOOD answer. If they really did believe life began before birth, then I would think a brand new spiritual life would carry the same term unless it's all just another one of their silly catch phrases like "it's a child, not a choice". It's NOT a child until it is born. It's an embryo or zygote or gametes before that. If you religious zealots out there want to call an embryo a child I suggest you start by promoting "It's not a child, it's an adult" when talking about toddlers. That's just as valid of a catch phrase. And since you think embryos deserve all the rights of a child (except tax exemptions, life insurance, or any thing else that might cost you conservatives money), then why don't children deserve all the rights of adults? Can't you be consistent with your logic, just this once?

Life begins at conception. If life doesn't begin here then someone has to pick a random day during the gestation period and explain why life begins here instead of at the beginning.

When do you say life begins? What is the scientific rational of the day that you pick?

And when you decide the day in the pregnancy has come that the child finally earns the distinction of being called "human" by you, will your position be to protect that child, or to kill that child?

This should be interesting! I am not a Christian Anti-abortionist, I am a mom and a biologist. I would never have an abortion but I believ it foolish for society to try and force a woman who was capable of that to have kids. She will really mess it up. As for when life begins, it actually doesn't have a beginning. The cells that later go on to produce eggs and sperm migrate from the mother, thus being alive BEFORE the baby is. In a sense, my grandchildren are alive before my children were conceived, just as my children were alive in my mom before I was born. Life began millions upon millions of years ago, the argument of "when it begins" is foolish. Just my two cents.

Life begins the exact moment a sperm cell and an egg cell collide. They form a completely different cell, which becomes an embryo, which becomes a fetus, and eventually (assuming it doesn't die, of course), becomes a baby something (fish, turtle, bird, elephant, human, or whatever).

Life begins at conception. not a moment, not a day , not a month later. Did you know that the baby's heart is beating at 3 weeks after conception- a beating heart would prove to me that there is life- when our heart stops beating there is no life.

I believe human life begins once the sperm has fertilized the egg. Before we were formed in our mother's womb, God knew us and predestined us. So, that one sperm was already predestined to make you or me or whomever. Being born again is when we give up our old life to start over with a clean slate(being cleaned from sin), through the Holy Spirit. To be conceived is when the sperm actual gets inside of the egg through love-making of man and wife. We are also born in sin and shaped in iniquity which means that we have been taught the ways of the world and we choose to go on paths that are not of God. So, when born again we are molded into righteousness and should walk the paths that are of God.

Life begins at conception. Being born again is a spiritual rebirth. Good try though but no cigar.

Life begins at conception.

Being born again of spirit is not the same.

You are showing your foolishness...and it's really unbecoming.

When the sperm fights its way out of the testicles ... through the vagina ... and penetrates the egg.

Public school gave me an astronomical statistic of how many sperm to impregnation and WOW --- Life is a miracle.
