i browse through all these questions on animals and i wonder how did dogs survive in the wild? Where did all this knowledge come from with breeding dogs/cats? How did they treat thierselves when they became ill? Are we being ripped off from all of the medicines and treatments they have for dogs? Dogs dont need outfits why do we allow the stores to sucker us into buying clothes? Who made up house pets? Are tiny tea-cups/miniatures man-made- Is that why they cant uphold thier natural purposes like being able to survive in the cold weather? I had this discussion with my boyfriend and it made sense to me, he think i baby my poms too much. But I still understood his point because how did they make it w/o humans input?

Domestication of any animal is a symbiotic relationship. We, the humans, supply the animals with basic needs. They, the animals, supply us with companionship/protection/etc.

Years of breeding for specific genetic mutations (read choice attributes) has given us dog breeds that can barely survive outside of human care. There are many feral packs roaming the world that prove they can readily adapt to life without humans, but our quest to develop the "pet" has given us greater responsibility for the lives of the animals we wish to share ours with.

Regardless of what some people may have done to genetically alter other life forms on the planet, specifically "pets", every creature is a fellow traveler on Planet Earth. Dogs...wolves...whatever survived because they fit into an ecological place. Your question becomes a bit complex because it rambles and is not specific. From what I gather, humans have deliberately bred animals so that certain traits would manifest and become new breeds. There is no way of knowing if that breed would live in a feral state because it is artificial. However, at the same time there is no way of knowing if that breed might have evolved on it's own without our help so the question is not moot. Are you questioning human genetic breeding of sub species or the consequence of those results? I honestly doubt that you will be able to understand this answer.

after many and many(lots of many) of years of breeding in the wild, some species change there looks and abilities to adjust to new surrounding and environmental changes to survive
