It's to unblock your number if your number is private. For most Landline phones that's the code to unblock it. Depends on what area your in.

To Deactivate:
1. Lift the receiver and listen for a dial tone
2. Dial *86 (1186 for rotary phones and pulse-dialing phones)
3. A voice announcement will state that your Repeat Dial feature has been deactivated
4. Hang up

That could mean anything. Don't assume because phone companies use third party vendors for telephony features. It would be wise to call your phone company and to find out who is the third party which supplies these telephony features. I work at a phone company and they used to use logica but, now they are using another application. Find out the name of the application they use.
