the types of viruses that are going around about now can keep a fever lingering for around for 4-5 days, sometimes more. If there's no other symptoms, like not drinking where he becomes dehydrated, diaharrea, sore throat (could be strep thraot), any wheezing or other respiratory issues, it is just that, a virus which unfortunately antibiotics can't kill. As long as the fever comes down with tylenol and motrin you have to just ride it out no matter how frustrating it gets :( Hope he feels better!

I have the same thing going on with my 8 yr old daughter. Fever drops for a couple of hours until the Motrin wears off, then comes back. It really is just a virus. It's a pretty nasty one going around. I know of some people who've got the same thing. Some don't have ALL of the problems, others have them much worse.

My son had a virus a few weeks ago and his doc said to let it go away on it's own. She said not to give him dairy except yogurt because it helps with the digestive system and not give him juice because it makes the digestive system worse. Gatorade and pedialyte. My son threw up for a day and had bad diahrea for a week. As for the fever maybe you should wait another day and see what happens and then take him to another doc or tell the one he has now that his temp is still high. They say that a childs fever can get up to 105 til it can get serious. Personally I think thats too high but they are pros.

Antibiotics do not get rid of a virus. Only bacterial infections. My son is sick right now with the same thing (cough runny nose) he has been 103-104 since Thursday. If he is not eatting or drinking bring him to the ER.

That's the bad thing about viruses...they run their own course. If the fever gets any higher, then maybe call another doc or take him to the ER but 100-103 isn't going to kill him. I know you know this, but make sure he drinks a lot of H2O.

ok right here is what you may desire to do. permit's say you supply her Tylenol at 10 am. At midday you may supply her motrin. Then at 2 you may supply her tylenol back. Rotate as such each and every 2 hours to maintain the fever down. do no longer exceed reccomended dosage. make valuable she is getting fluids in spite of if it fairly is an ice pop. Make her an appt together with her well being practitioner yet till her fever spikes and does not respond to the tylenol or motrin there is not any reason for the e.r. additionally, for the cough you are able to attempt putting her interior the bathing room and turning on the nice and comfortable water to make it steam. carry together with her abdomen up against your thighs and cup your hand. gently pat her on the back to attempt and unfasten any mucous and encourage her to cough it up and spit it out.

The one thing you must keep in mind is to never let anyone make a medical diagnosis from the web, phone or whatever else; it must be done with the patient physically there. If you don't feel comfortable with what your doctor said, find another doctor or go to the ER. Doctors are human and can make mistakes.
