Did you miss that day in kindergarten when the class compared and contrasted dogs and cats? Unless you have been locked in a basement your entire life or you have only seen dogs with 3 legs, I can't imagine a reason as to why you're confused on this issue. Maybe you should spend more time reading children's encyclopedias and less writing dumb questions on the Internet.

ok...

a typical dog has 4 legs, however accidents or birth defects can cause a loss of legs, Dogs can learn to walk on 3 and do very well and act as if they never lost a leg.
