My sister used to cut hair for a living in Alaska and now my soon to be sister inlaw is and the best stuff for curly hair (like what I have is Matrix its has let me grow my hair LONG again. I have never had my hair past my shoulders casue I used the wrong stuff in my hair and now I have long red curly hair that is thick again. There is other products out there that will help your hair but living in california its going to be hard water killing your hair. I just moved from Washington State to Arizona and I can tell what the difference in water has done to my hair. I hope this helps a bit.

Dying your hair repeatedly WILL cause hair loss if you don't take care of it.

If you have been using generic brand shampoos, you're probably making it worse.

I'd suggest Garnier Fructis; I have naturally fine, thin & straight hair and I've dyed my hair more times than I'd care to remember.
I'm 19 as well and thought that losing handfuls (not literally handfuls, I'd say about 80 strands) started to concern me, but that was because of the shampoo I was using-- damn herbal essence!
But after I started using Garnier, my hair plumped up and I loss less than 20 strands every other shower!

I hope it all works out for you.
Good luck ♥

I had a similar problem, but i use to wear my hair up all the time. So if you wear your hair up in a pony tail or anything similar stop. I also used Pantene's Pro-v restoratives anti breakage shampoo and conditioner. That really seemed to help. If it keeps up though I would see your doctor.

My brother had the same problem. And he was just 21. He was scared that he might go bald. He used mane and tail shampoo... I know it sounds silly coz it's usually the shampoo for horses but... I think it was good. Just look for the product. It gives you shiny, silky and dandruff-free hair too! Also try not to use to much chemicals onto your hair... Good luck!

I would ask a doctor. Sometimes you can have a thyroid problem that causes hair loss. Some types of stress can cause it too - but it would have to be really BIG stress.
