I know of people that have used that dosage and are none the worse for the wear.
other good info - Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (both are muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.
Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.
The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Yes, does seem to be high. Is the max. level per day you can take. (that would be 3 grams) Usually written for lower dosage but, you must need a stronger dose.
As for taking it for the 'flu' you must have an infection. Ex. respiratory infect. , sinus, ......etc. (or a combo of a few)
10 days not that long. Just keep taking it and finish the entire prescription. Don't want it to get worse or resistant to the medication. I was on an antibiotic for an acute sinus infection for a month before. Though I'd never be over it. Good luck! Hope you feel better.

Wow. Normal dosaging of Amoxicillin is 250 mg x 3 up to 500 mg x 3. Up to 1500 mg total. To take 3000 mg is to me excessive. Considering that you will experience the normal reaction, side effects: diaharrea, nausea, vomiting as a result, this medication is excerted through your kidneys, however I have never encountered a case of toxicity with this medication.
Unless you have what is called 'supra' infection that MAY be called for. I truly doubt that your doctor wrote out this script incorrectly. Since we don't know what the RX is for we can't (nor should we) tell you what's wrong or right for YOU. And your doctor does know you best.
Take as prescribed and PLEASE finish it. Don't start this antibiotic and stop otherwise you'll at a VERY big risk for drug resistant bacteria due to the dosaging.

The dose is on the high side, but acceptable and given all the time. You will need to watch out for any rashes that may occur not a true "allergic reaction" more of a "irritation" from the dose itself..Other side-effects would include gastric upsets, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, you'll need to call the MD if that persists. If you have any respiratory distress, wheezing or breathing difficulties, get yourself to the ER. Take care. SW RNP

That I would say, is a little unusual. I have never even thought of being given that high of a dosage of that kind of medicine or any other medicine ever.
