My boyfriend got a Chow from a friend and he was sent with buckets of leftover frozen food including pizza, sandwiches, steaks, sausage patties, etc. I went the next day and got him some dog food. We have had him since Friday and he still has not eaten any of his dog.

Be patient he will eat it when he gets hungry enough.
Make sure you don't leave the food down 24/7. Only feed him 1 or 2 times a day at the same time everyday.

When he gets hungry enough he will eat dog food. The number one allergy problem (skin allergies) are caused by dogs eating human food. Don't give in to him. You are a great person for buying dog food and recognizing that dogs eat dog food. Try and put a little olive oil or vegetable oil over his food and maybe he will eat it . But believe me when he is hungry enough he will eat. Never let him have another bite ofpeople food. Thank you for taking him in.

My mom used to feed our dog an unhealthy amount of dog food, and finally my dad said enough! What we did, was we would mis human food with regular dog food, and then after a week after that, we would rub our hands (or the dog bowl) with human food so our dog got the smell of the human food, but only the taste of the dog food. Then after a few days of that, it was strictly dog food. Try it. It worked for us. Or you can also try wet dog food. To the dogs it smells and probably tastes like human food. (Even though it smells like crap). And that might work. Hope this helps!!

put some raw carrots in the dog food not a lot just enough he has to nose threw it. Do Not give him any other food, dog food and a carrot, he will eat when he gets hungry, and figures the free meals are over. Carrots are a good diet food for them and will not hurt the dog.

I had a dog with the same problem that I got from someone. I asked my vet this same question, and he told me to completely take away the human food and offer nothing but dog food. When the dog gets hungry enough, he will eat, they are smart enough to know not to starve to death. When they are hungry enough and they know that they will not get anything else to eat, they will eat belive me i know. Good luck!!!

When he's hungry enough, he'll eat. In the mean time, though, when you and your boyfriend sit down to eat dinner, put a bowl of dog food in the middle of the table as if it's part of your meal. Every now and then, reach in and grab a handful and offer it. He'll think it's your food.

Try getting him some Mighty Dog or Cesar dog food and mix in a handful of dry dog food with it. This should work.

your dog WILL NOT starve itself. it will reat when it is hungery enough. don't give your dog any human food treats. it will only encourage him/her to find out more ways to get food. like off a counter or a table unattended. there are dog treats that are made for dogs that taste appealing to dogs. my dogused to be just like that and now she gets her treats if she's been good and she loves it.

try to keep the human food away from hima nd give dog food to him hell soon relize that hell have to eat it.thats what i did to my dog and it worked
