I just wanted to know if anyone has tried the master cleanse. I found the receipe in a magazine and wanted to try it. I just want to know how it works and the side effects. Are you allowed to eat anything or is it like fasting. Any in put would help.

My brother did it... it's like fasting.

You only drink this mix of fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. (I think the maple syrup is Grade 2 Organic-- not regular maple syrup from a grocery store.) The drink is really good. I liked it.

I don't know how it is for weight loss (my brother is already skinny), but it's for detoxing the body. Like after a week... he cleared out his colon of things that were... I guess, stuck inside! It's gross actually. I'm sure you get the idea. But he said that he felt a lot better afterwards.

There is more to it... like saltwater flushes... and some other techniques. I've never done it so I don't know all the details.

But my brother really appreciated the health benefits of the Master Cleanse. He recommends it.

I would do it-- except I'm too nervous about how I would feel fasting for so many days. I'm not too keen on the fasting idea.

It's not really for weight loss-- it's for detox!!

You cannot eat for the mininum of ten days that you do the cleanse. It's intense (they say you won't get hungry, but you do). You're body is tired & weak the first few days, and you're starving like crazy. You go to the bathroom a lot, obviously ... it's a cleanse. It's not for the faint of heart. do not take diuretics they ar only designed for people with a fluid overload , and should only really b used by prescription they can have bad effects on your kidneys , why do you want to cleanse your system , we are not designed to starve ourselves , and this sounds very risky , use as ensible diet of fruit and veg ,but u need protein , so keep to a sensible diet and live long .

quicker way would be to drink 2 gallons of water a day for 3 days and take diuretics, if you're looking to clean out your system. Fasting is extremely unhealthy.
