I have blepharitis mainly in one eye. I know that this is a result of having alot of indoor allergies (Which means i have allergies year round). My eyelids are ALWAYS red and this blepharitis never goes away. Ive had it for so long now that i don't know what if feels like to be without it. I have already tried cleaning it with one of those cotton sticks. I have done this for about 2 weeks and no results. What should i try to pursuit now to get this blepharitis down? And am I always going to have this, cause I've had it for so long and it doesn't go away? Also why do i have blepharitis mainly in one eye instead of the other?

Unilateral Blepharitis is typically not that at all. It is more likely a type of dermatitis. If you are an allergic type person it is more likely that you should use some sort of topical steroid on the lid. Also, you can purchase over the counter lid scrubs at any pharmacy that work much better than the q-tip and baby shampoo regimen. But...if it is dermatitis, rubbing on it is only going to irritate it. If it is not better in another week or so, I would suggest a dermatologist.

Hey, I've had this issue in the past!
What works pretty well is using baby shampoo (i know, wierd) to clean the eyelid. Use a soft towel and warm water as well as the baby shampoo and gently wipe on the lids/lashes. This can be temporary help.
Mine got so bad I had to go to the doctor. They prescribed a medication, and within two days I was cured and havent had too much trouble since.
Otherwise, just use allergy medications!

Good luck, but if it persists, go to the doctor!

I would seriously suggest you go to an allergist and let them do testing on you to find out what is causing your problem. I occasionally have problems with my eyes swelling shut, as well as breaking out in hives - usually if I cannot get to a Dr. quick enough, I take Benedryl and that does the trick, but if you have yours all the time, you may need to go on prescription allergy meds. to help you.

Go to an opthamologist. He/she will probably prescribe erythromyacin .......if you really do have blepharitis. That's why you need to go to an opthamologist. They can diagnose you properly & treat you for whatever it is.
