In a semi auto, definitely a .45, .40. and 9mm.
I'm not real big on the Berettas....never really liked my M9.
I love the Glock. I've got the Model23 and have shot a Model19 alot.
You might also look at the Springfield XD line.
I really like the .40cal overall as a personal defense choice. It has better takedown power than the 9mm, but better control and capacity than the .45
Instead of 6 handguns...I would get a handgun or two and a home defense shotgun. The shotgun is going to be the most effective in home.
Oh and I would have to disagree and say that the 7.62mm has killed mreo people than any other round....I mean cmon the AK

That's an impossible question to answer, there's no such thing as a "best" calibre for defence shooting.
In the US, the most popular calibres for Concealed Carriers are likely 9mm, .40 SW, and .45 ACP for semi-autos, and .38/.357magnum for revolvers.
Why would you want to buy six guns at once, and 2 of the same kind? You're looking at several thousand for that. Why wouldn't you try out different models?
For self-defence, I personally like 9mm +P. It's strong enough in most situations, plus you get a larger mag cap.
PS. This place is the worst possible location to ask these kinds of questions. ie. you're getting reccomended to carry a .50AE from one guy and a .22 from another lol. Go to a real firearms forum if you're serious.

Stopping power you want a 45 or 50. You're not going to find a 50 in these brands. The 45 has been battle tested. The 9mm has been around for a long time and has been proven to be accurate and little recoil as to afford you the ability to pick up your target quickly.
My personal choices are 357 mag, 9mm, and 45acp

I hope you plan to register these arms.
The best is 9mm auto. Stay away from the 40 -45 cal especially the mags.
In my experience, the best, true pistol I have ever had was a S&W 38 police special with a 6" barrel.
Most times it is not the piece, its the hand & brain using it.
Are you going to war?

.45 packs the best puch with the least kick. 9 mill is easy to shoot but tough to hit a target from more than 10 feet, but if ya wanna put the fear of god into your attacker, the .50 cal desert eagle will put a hole the size of a basketball into anyone
