Please diferentiate when you say immigrants I guess you say LEGAL immigrants. Next time write legal or illegal.
Immigrants come to live and contribute to the USA and they should be help with financial aid.
Illegals come to steal resources they must be deported.

Yes! I fully support the DREAM Act. (S. 2611). I do not think that alien minors should be responsible for (illegally) immigrating to this country. If they have been good, law-abiding students and desire to attend post-secondary schools, we should assist them as much as we can. This includes in-state tuition, financial aid, etc.
Of course, there needs to be a cap on immigration. The US cannot support everyone. However, think of how life would be if you were permanently denied access to a college education based on no fault of your own. You would be subject to a life of mimimum-wage jobs and possibly depending on taxpayer's social welfare systems. I think MINOR immigrant students should receive all the help they need to have access to higher ed.

We have our own citizens that need aid and don't get it. Not every American family can afford or are able to send their kids to school. I had to work my way through and it took me longer. If you want an education there are alot of options besides a free ride. I remember way back when.....college was party time. It infurated me to know parents had mortgaged their homes or were working more jobs to make the college life easier for their kid when all they were doing was partying their butts off. So many didn't really want to be there but it was an extension of having someone support them. Either go to college or get out and get a job. Heck....party through college.......and many did. And then they figured that their first job was going to be President of a corp.. Life doesn't work like that. A college education doesn't guarentee financial wealth.
Making it easy and free doesn't guarentee a successful person either. There's alot who earned scholarships and had a free ride and still didn't finish college. There's others who worked their way through because they wanted to learn so badly.
So no......I want our tax dollars going to help our citizens first. Deserving students. I don't want our citizens getting booted to the side for people who aren't even citizens. There's a limit to the aid and why should they be booted out for quotas or anything else. College isn't denied them. They just have to pay. The free ride for non-citizens has to stop.

What do you mean by Immigrant? Some one who is migrating to America and plans on making A life here? eventually becoming a citizens and contributing to the fabric of the American Mosaic? If that is the case they should get financial aid. And they do
People who are just coming here for on education should not get government aid, and they don't.
Undocumented are the hardest to judge, many people are here with out papers because they came with their parents. I do not think there is a simple solution to weather they should get aid or not. Perhaps CUNY (City University of New York) handles it best, they cannot get government aid but are charged "in state" tuition

People here legally and following our laws should be offered financial aid in the form of low interest student loans, however I strongly feel that they should not be given any form of "free money".
Anyone here illegally should be deported, not given anything but a one way ticket across the border to where they came from. They are a no good waste of taxpayers dollars that should be going to poor legal citizens or community projects, not to those criminals.

There are enough freebies for the legal immigrant already. The illegal aliens children shouldn't be here going to school in the first place. Our own children are in need of any aid for education.
Below are some of the costs to some states for the illegal alien:
State Studies of Illegal Alien Cost- (education, medical and incarceration):
California - $10.5 billion (2004)
Arizona - $1.3 billion (2004)
Texas - $4.7 billion (2005)
Florida - $1.7 billion (2005)
New York - $5.2 billion (2006)
New Jersey - $2.1 billion(2006)
I think the USA taxpayer is spending enough.

only if the parents of the legal or ILLEGAL students pay taxes. Many people don't understand that many ILLEGAL ( thats right) immigrants pay taxes. I would think that it would only be fair in that case but it doesn't work out that way unfortunately.

It's amusing that the answers above assume you mean illegal immigrants.
Immigrant children should be given the same rights as any legal resident in this country. Financial aid for education is given to citizens, permanent residents, or "eligible" non-citizens.
Eligible is defined as:
"Refugee"
"Asylum Granted"
"Indefinite Parole" and/or "Humanitarian Parole"
"Cuban-Haitian Entrant, Status Pending"
"Conditional Entrant"

Why should the families who have lost family to war for the freedoms of this country go without free education so we can pay for foreighners to get a free education? Why should citizens have to pay taxes to try for the American dream have to give new immigrants a free ride? Why are our kids in Iraq now fighting for our government ? So we can give immigrants a free education,PLEASE,WAKE UP AMERICA!

Sure. We should encourage all criminals and law breakers to come to this country to get free housing, medical care and education. Our country's poor, mentally ill, and handicapped, will just have to get to the back of the line for services or do without. Foreigners are much more deserving than people that already live here. Our poor and sick will just have to continue to do without so that our tax dollars can pay for services exclusively for people from other countries.
