My friend went to the dentist with toothache, and was told that as she was a NHS patient she would have to pay for the treatment, or wait untill April for the new tax year.
WHY...
Becuase the dentist surgeries had run out of money to treat NHS patients.
What are you views on this and why.

I think it is disgusting that someone should have to suffer the pain of tooth ache if they can't afford to pay a dentist for private treatment. I have had problems with my teeth in the past and because I had not been registered with an NHS dentist I would not go for treatment because of the cost. It is even difficult to get a child registered with an NHS dentist now. We pay our national insurance money but we no longer see any benefits to it. The country is going to the dogs. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

The reason your friend was not , or taken care of is because socialized medicine is rationed. Her Dr. probably has a set amount of NHS cases that he/she will take in any given fiscal year..when the amount is met..they stop taking non fee for service patients. It may also be triaged, where the most needful or service get seen first. If I was your friend I would see a fee for service practitioner and make some kind of payment arrangements..NHS dental services in the UK are notoriously bad...I know this because I have peers in the dental laboratory business in England...

Sadly the only people who are exempt from dental treatment are the unemployed, the young-under 18's, pregnant mothers.
If your not any of the above you pay simple as that,a lot of people seem to think that even though their receiving nhs dental treatment they dont have to pay, you do, it's not like going to see your GP where it is free.
As for the new tax year, bollix! i work in a dental surgery and have done for many years and that is $hite, it's not the dentist who decides who should pay and how much, it;s the goverment
and dentists are just following the rules!

My mum was rushed to hospital. On the second day there were no clean sheets for her. She had not even been given a wash, just a bowl of water, that was out of her reach. 3 days on when all the drips were off, we asked if she could shower and were told if we were prepared to do her she could have one. Yet one of OUR friends was getting clean sheets and all the attention. I don't blame the nurses I blame the "the minority ethnic law" when we learn to be as pushy as them we might do better. We are told we are rude but obviously not rude enough, we need to be more assertive.

Hi, This government sucks its all wrong the nsh should not be in trouble. Why does labour give so much money to other countries but not ours. in Southampton they want to put a stupid light show on the main clock (with tax payers money) but the outer areas have bad roads and paths. They all so put the council tax up but surely with all the apartments being built in the city with the extra tax from them then it should go down. I think that we all need to strike in London and show labour that we need them and we can brake them.

Yes, but we do pay for our treatment though NHS stamps and pay extra taxes on top of our taxed earnings , so why should we pay for private treatment.
She should have gone in speaking a foreign language and spouting the words "political asylum"......... she would have got it done free.

I think that the reason the NHS cannot afford to pay for dentistry is because the dentists get paid far too much money. They get paid much more than physicians for poking around in your mouth, whereas doctors cover everything.

You think that's bad ? Go to America, you will be left to die in the street if you don't have health insurance.

The NHS is poor but it's better than nothing.
