hello, my first thought was, did this child just now start this? when i took the bottle away, mine would not, and still will not drink milk. (of ANY kind) i was worried, but he liked yogurt (whole yogurt) and cheese (some kinds). I was still wondering if i was giving enough calcium...so i tried a smoothie at walmart. He loved the strawberry yogurt smoothie. I felt better about putting that in his sippy cup, rather than all the sugary drinks and processed flavored drinks. So now we add whatever kind of yogurt he likes to a sippy cup and then we add regular milk, shake it up to a preference of whatever texture (medium thick) and he will drink it up. Try different flavors, maybe you will have some lucky. Twice a day should be enough calcium on top of the calcium in food. Plus if you are giving a vitamin, i don't know how safe it is to add more minerals and vitamins with the carnation and stuff. So, those are my thoughts on it.

he can get his calcium other ways. it is common for children to refuse milk when they are weaned off the bottle. they associate milk with a bottle and juice iwth a cup and next thing you know it has been a year and no milk has been drank! :)

you could also try having someone else make him drink his milk. at preschool or at a friends house have them tell him he doesn't ahve a choice and must drink his milk. normally the kids will down it for someone else!

how do i know? i teach preschool and all the kids drink their milk and eat their vegetables everyday but won't for their parents!

take care,
SD

Other forms of calcium - cheese, yogurt, ice cream.

Maybe it is to rich in taste. Try Lactaid or even Soy.

There is also a nutritional drink called Pediassure, which tastes like a milkshake.

Talk with your doctor as to whether this is really a major issue or not for your child. Sometimes it is not.

Supplement his calcium elsewhere, consult a nutritionist or a pediatric an for either a supplement or a dietary substitution that will give him the calcium and vitamin D he will be lacking.

Avoid adding sugary syrups to milk to make it more appetizing, eating habits are formed young and you want to ensure that your little guy is eating well and enjoying healthy foods.

Use other forms of calcium, like cheese and yogurt. You can also try flavoring the milk, with my girls I sometimes mix a yogurt smoothie in with their milk, it is healthier than chocolate milk but it tastes better than milk!

I use to bribe mine with Strawberry or Chocolate milk. Take flavored yogurt and blend it with milk. Use Chocolate ice cream and blend it with milk.

After awhile they would drink plain milk.. It just something certain kids go through when growing up.

You can give ur kid something that contains some lactic in. Just dont tell him that there is milk in it. When he is done eating what you gave him, then tell him that there was milk in what he ate. A good example is Ice Cream im sure that he will eat that.

Youngest daughter was the same way. Give him lots of cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, anything with calcium. Ice cream in milk was something she would drink.

My son won't drink milk either...so I give him yogurt drinks, and make sure he gets enough calcium and vitamin d to make up for the milk

try a tea bag in the warm milk, make it sound "grown up" as "grown ups" drink tea!!!!

My 2yr old loves it!!

Also instant whip is made from 100% milk, but only a pudding....full of sugar etc!!

Have you tried ready break, or the diffrent varieties of porrage, made with milk.

Smoothies, made with milk and child fav fruit to make a yummy healthy milk shake, even add ice cream to make it thick....just like macdonalds (well tell your child that!!!)

hope some of the ideas work, good luck
