when I called in the order I ordered 2 pizzas, they kept saying "can I put you on hold" then I would give them my phone number....then..."can I put you on hold" then I would give them my debit card number....then put on hold again, well somehow they didnt give me the total and I didnt ask. When the pizza got here I saw it was 38 bucks! For 2 pizzas and thats it! I was like, honestly man I dont want the pizza anymore, but I didnt wanna stiff them so I paid for it, but only gave a 2 dollar tip. I know it wasnt the delievery guys fault, but I was already paying 40 for 2 pizzas. What could I have done? Chances are if I said I want my money back you know they wouldnt give me the charge back on my debit card, then I am out the money AND the food!

I would call back and complain. Often they will be quite courteous when you do that.

I would call the place. the charge may have been wrong. I had two pizzas delivered; paid for them in cash and gave a generous tip because the weather was awful. About ten minutes later the delivery girl came back and said we shorted her. My friend called the pizza place and the original price we were given was correct.

As someone said, maybe the charge was correct. Try to order online if you can, that should solve your problem.

By the way, if they did credit your debit card, you would not be out any money. You would be even, they would have charged your debit card $38 and then credited it for $38. It would be the same as erasing the charge, you would not have been out anything.

Your mistake was not to ask is the price was right, you didn't have to return the pizzas just to ask for the price to be corrected and they can't refuse to do that, besides it's not their money so they will have no problem to give you your money back.

On the other hand since you didn't ask it's possible your order included some sodas or other stuff and the driver just forgot about them in the car, it's hard for them to keep track when they have 5 more deliveries to do. In my case I would have kept the pizzas and asked the guy is the price was right and call the store to have the price adjusted, something they can't refuse to do if your are right. By the way never give your credit card number on the phone, I used to work at a mall and store clerk used to sell and trade credit card numbers from customers.

But if you still have the receipt it's not too late to call the manager and ask to make it right.

I hate to say that $38 might have been correct. On 2 for Tuesdays w/ Domino's, our price is about $17 (for 2 thin crust 3 topping pizzas). So double that and it is $34, plus if you had more toppings and a delivery fee maybe. Next time be sure and ask what the cost will be so you are not suprised. Call and ask what the price is to find out if they overcharged you, or order on-line.

That is an old trick. A woman did that to me at a clothing store, she distracted me, "messed up" the ticket, and then I was charged for two of what I bought. The store was going out of business. I took it up with them, and with the credit card, and got my money back.
In your case, I probably would not have accepted the pizza in the first place, but save your reciept, and call the place, Explain what happened, and ask for them to make it right.
If they won't, tell them they lost your business. And do not go there again. Really, the old double charge trick is very popular.

For one thing, when you get tired of being out on hold, hang up--they will get the hint...unfortuantely, pizza places are cheap paying employers so most employees are trying to answer the phones while trying to make the pizzas themselves plus manning the counters and basically doing the job of 4 people, so patience is called for when you phone in an order, especially during "meal hours" of 11am to 1pm and 4pm to around 9pm...fortunately, Papa John's can be ordered online so there is no hassles when I order a pizza...and there is usually specials you can get only online.....

Call them, not to complain, but to discuss the situation. I'm sure that you are not the only person to get the "hold" problem on busy nights, and the store manager needs to be aware of the problem. Next time make sure to get the total.

I would call and complain, and if they would not give a refund, report them to your CC company (and the police) as an unauthorized charge. Follow up with a letter to the Better Business Bureau and your state Attorney General's office.

If I did not live very far I would always go pick it myself. I am curious as to what you thought each pizza was going to cost.
You should go in person and ask what the proper charge should have been.because at this point you do not know what to argue about.

I recently learned that two local places here in Orlando automatically charge tip in their charge so I have been overtipping their drivers for years. Always double check to see if that was already included.

I would call them back, and order the same thing. Just to see if it matches your total. If it does I would complain to the manager on the poor service.
