I had menopause in my late 40's, I didnt take any hormones at all,it was about a year before I finally got over the hot flashes and night sweats.I never had a mood disorder. Post menopausal I became afraid to drive, wouldnt go out, wasnt mean just had some really hard days. I am now on an SSRI(antidepressant) for depression and anxiety, it has worked wonders for me. Sometimes I think your brain can become chemically unbalanced during this time and after as well. I just dont think it has been recognized yet by medical professionals and I am a medical profesional.

My opinion on hormone therapy is that is can be and is dangerous. I would ask for something for the mood disorder and maybe try some of the natural remedies for the hot flashes and night sweats.

I would think you will need hormone therapy to come close to getting back to your "real" self. Menopause does make changes in your body and mind, they don't have to be bad though. I was into instant menopause at the age of 27, due to surgery for endometriosis. I had a complete hysterectomy, no uterus, no tubes, no ovaries, the hot flasher occured before the doctor had come in to check me that evening. It was unreal! I did hormones for a long time, got tired of the constant dosage ups and downs, so now I use Estroven, it's over the counter, it has black cohosh and some other stuff that helps with irritability and dryness and flashes. Works pretty good. I will get the Equate brand too, it's half the cost and has the same stuff, so either is fine. I also use a Lavender body spray, whether it really helps with moods and stuff I don't know, but I like the smell and it seems to make me more relaxed. You can be happy, in fact, if you look at it this way it should be the best gift you got! No kids to take care of, freedom to do whatever, whenever you feel like it, you can have wild sex and not worry about pregnancy, there are many pros to menopause, don't let society or some guy that doesn't have a clue what you feel, tell you otherwise. It can be quite uplifting! Good luck.

I'm reading a book right now called The Change Before The Change - What to do in the 10 years before Menopause. Very informative. I'm 43 and starting to get symptoms. There are many ways to naturally deal with the symptoms of peri-menopause. You're only 37, that's a bit young, so I would suggest seeing your gyno and have some tests run. It could be something else. Why go for years with your hormones jumping all over the place if you didn't have to?

Oh, bless your heart, I've been there. I'm 56 and MUCH better than when all that stuff started. Hot flashes are less, night sweats and mean spells are less. Actually, almost non-existent. You might try Evening Primrose Oil, found in the vitamin section. It helped me so much. I also got those awful cyst-like pimples that were hard and hurt (not just because you're getting pimples in middle-age, either!). I started taking primrose oil and they are gone. So are all of the rest of the nasty symptoms of menopause. Good luck, sweetie!

37 is quite young to be experiencing symptoms of menopause, but certainly not impossible.
Unfortunately, if it menopause, your hormones will never go back to pre-menopause levels.
The good news is.....as your body adjusts to the lower levels, of the hormones, the hot flashes do have a less devastating effect on you.
I hope that it won't take you long to go back to your "pre-menopause" regular, happy, outgoing self!
I hope this helps you a little.

Yes, once you are through the hormone imbalance, you will go back to being your old self. Menopause is really hard on some women and a breeze, for others. You will get through it, though and will be much happier, once all the symptoms disappear.

You could try increasing your soy intake, it really does help with the symptoms.

I'd go to the doctor for some help. If you already are, tell him the problems and he should change the medication. Menopause can take several years to go through. (The side affects of menopause that is. Menopause happens in one day, when you cease to ovulate anymore).

I am 42, went through it at 31due to complete hysterectomy. I'm not so bad now.
