I just learned to skimboard this weekend but picked it up pretty quickly (could do shove-its and 180s along the sand--I've wakeskated before so that's why) and wanted to get a board to learn on. I would probably be doing more stuff along the sand, but would also like to ride it into waves sometimes (not for air yet, just to get a feel). Double tipped would be best so I can still do 180s and the such. Also, I need to know what size to get: I was thinking medium. I'm 6ft, 145lbs, and athletic, so probably a thinner board would be best, right? I'd also like to try to keep it below $100 if possible for this first one.

I was looking at the Victoria Grommet. I've heard Victoria is a good company and it seems to be about $80-100. Good/bad idea?

The Victoria Grommet is WAY too small for you, the large has a weight limit of 85# and it's a pretty tiny board.

Victoria makes a board called The Foamie and a large foamie would suit you because they have a larger surface area nad are adesigner for transition from beginner to intermediate boarding.

If oyu're set on Victoria and want to spend a bit more, check out the Womabt, it's killer!

Zap makes awesome boards but they are a bit pricer. The Zap Wedge in a large would probably work but it runs about $150.

For more info on Exile, Zap and Victoria, with a comparioson, check out http://www.eastcoastskimboards.com/info.htm

Good luck!
