I've done that; I served a full-time mission in Portugal. Yes, I had to learn Portuguese and all of that.
...but you know how they say you can never really serve the Lord enough, because he always blesses you like 10 times more than what you give.
I definitely feel that I have personally gained more from that experience, than I ever put into it - If your family and financial situation allow for you to go, I would definitely say go for it.
