Well it seems to me after 911 USA but all the country into fear of a MASSIVE group of people, who 99.9% of them will cause no harm to anyone. And it is partly "blind hate", it's like, with all the news and things said about Muslims after the attacks and such, people were so afraid that they hated something they new nothing about. People fear what they do not know. Also, it's somewhat of a scapegoat, at least for Bush, it is now.

ALL RELIGION IS DANGEROUS NOT JUST ISLAM!! IT'S HUMAN NATURE, DON'T BE SO IGNORANT AND STUPID. HAVE AN OPEN MIND AND HEART.

oh and uh, fruitcake, christians kill innocent people to we TRAINED BIN LADEN!!! you people are so ignorant, don't judge a group of people by a small few or a BOOK.

the american media twists it so it makes the USA look better. US troops are over there slaughtering innocent lives to and raping and pillaging. the Muslims are no worse than any other religion/people

Why you no can speaking English?

I am still trying to figure out what you even meant to say. Premeditated is used to refer to a crime which was planned ahead of time. Conception is generally used when referring to pregnancy. I very much doubt premeditated conception is what you meant to say. Maybe you meant preconceived misconceptions?

If so, I must again correct you. The impression of Islam that most people have is not preconceived because it is based on almost two millennia of Islamic aggression. Furthermore, it is not a misconception, either.

Finally, I am really trying to decipher your last statement. You, in a single sentence, say that Islam brought peace and Islamic rule brought war and destruction. Which is it? Wait... never mind. I already mentioned Islam's long history of aggression.

You make some useful observations.

To me the most vital thing Islam needs is some centralized authority speaking out against the acts of the radicals. Unfortunately, Islam is very non-hierarchical, so there is no central group of perceived leaders of the Islamic faith that speak with one voice and condemn the actions of the heretical.

Where is the public outcry from Islam's theologians over the acts of these radicals? It is missing in the media and the silence among the leadership is deafening to the observers on the sidelines.

If Christian radicals were performing the acts that we see Islamic fundamentalists doing, there would be a world outcry among the leaders of Christian organizations condemning these persons as heretics. It would be in all the newspapers, television, etc.

I believe Islam is going through what the Christian faith went through during the Reformation. During the Reformation religious leaders were forced to carefully define their doctrines, that is, what do Christians really believe? This established a baseline of orthodoxy that then could be used as a litmus test for the practices of self-professed Christians. Islamic leaders must do the same thing. Codify their acceptable beliefs and then defend them against heretics loudly and publicly.

It did.
Islam was for a time the most peaceful and prosperous of the Semitic religions. We are not taught this because we live in a Euro-centric world. Islam created several of the most prosperous and sometimes peaceful civilizations on the planet. Many of the Middle Eastern countries were once more powerful than Europe. If not for the Mongol attack on their eastern flank, they would have probably conquered Western Europe. At that time, islam was more peaceful than Christianity. Saladin allowed all pilgrims to enter Jerusalum...the Christians were too greedy t let it be.

Now money has tamed the Christians. They have become less warlike in prosperity. But suffering has created hate and extremism IN THE MIDDLE EAST, not in Islam. This is no more violent than the disciples of Christ were, and the majority of Muslims have been peaceful all throughout history. They have made great discoveries in science, math, and even reintroduced Ancient Western philosophy (greeks and romans) back into Europe, ending the hatred of the Middle Ages and indirectly inducing all the goods of Western society (and allowing different evils to surface).

islam has done nothing but hate since it was first started by false prophet Muhammad. Actually, just the fact that islam exists is a direct insult to Christianity and Judaism. See, Muslims say that our Holy Books are twisted, corrupted, distorted. Muslims say Our God is not true. Then they back that up with more lies that they spread by violence. For 1400 years islam has hated other religions. If I as a Christian now hate islam, it was long overdue. But you are safe in the knowledge that my hatred only comes out in words against islam, that happen to be the truth.

May God Bless you.

Well, let's see. All the suicide bombers and crazed imam's are doing things in the name of allah or the prophet mohamed. Let's not forgot all the crazy laws, like the one that sentenced a 15 year old girl to death for stabbing a man who was raping her, are done due to sharia(islamic law). Also, does not the koran state that if you are not muslim that you are not worthy of equal treatment???

Gee, I wonder what gives up the impression that islam is a religion of violence, discrimination and hate.

The difference is the Christian religions stopped using the ridiculous measures of torture and murder to convert people hundreds of years ago, the muslim nations in the middle east are still living in the dark ages, taking the koran verbatim.

One questions the assertions made that Islam brought peace to the world when Jihad is an accepted practice of Islam. One also must question the notion of "72 virgins" in heaven. This could only be the expounding of a humanistic self-centered alleged "prophet" of a false and unbelievable religion. It is clear that Mohamed died and is buried in the ground. There has never been any claims that he overcame death and was resurrected. Of course this presupposes that Islam is anything other than an attempt by Satan to attack the belief in Jesus Christ as the only Son of God and the ONLY means by which we can be saved.

The reason they have the wrong conception is that all we see on the news pretty much is the violence against us and against each other. I suppose it is the same reason the Muslim world hates the Jews so much -- all the media really shows is the bad things. And like in the Middle East, sometimes the media makes up stuff or exaggerates things because it makes the story more interesting. But either way it is wrong. That is true enough.

You know, I totally agree with you. Islam is a peaceful and beautiful religion.

The problem is when people take some religion, some culture, mix it up, and label it all religion. Arab countries do this, they mix up culture with their religion, and the West believes it's all Islam, which is not. For example, in Saudi Arabia, women can't drive, nor can they work. This is totally unIslamic, but it's part of the culture in SA. The West sees this and believes it's all Islam.

What's even more confusing is when you see people killing in the name of Allah. Baloney, Allah commands no such murders and bombings. The West sees this, and since the guilty ones SAY they're doing it in the name of Islam, or for Allah, or whatever, the West is going to have a bad image of Islam, of course.

True, only a drop in the bucket of all Muslims are terrorists, but the good ones don't make the news, the troublemakers do. This is unfortunate, I wish the media would show more POSITIVE stories, instead of focusing on crime and killings and negativity.

Ah, but for Christians, it is their CHRISTIAN RESPONSIBILITY to INVESTIGATE Islam, and that doesn't mean by watching Fox News.

Here's the scriptural reference, Christians study Islam:

1 John 4:1-6 (New American Standard Bible)
Testing the Spirits

1) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2) By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

3) and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

4) You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

5) They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.

6) We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
