I keep giving him childrens tylenol but after it wears off his fever comes back and I can tell that he doesn't feel good. What could possibly be wrong?

My youngest use to run higher end fevers for a week at a time with no other symptoms. I would check in with the doctor, they really need to be informed. He could possibly have a viral something going on and his body is fighting it.

A fever means his body is fighting an infection. If he's feeling bad then take him in b/c it could be an ear infection. My son had a fever with no other symptoms other than he was lathargic and not eating and it was an ear infection-which wasn't on my radar b/c he wasn't pulling at his ear! Is he eating? Make sure he's at least drinking a lot of fluids and you can alternate Tylenol and Motrin in the mean time, but I'd get him to the Dr. Good luck!

A 2 year old doesn't run a fever for no reason. Best thing to do is go to the Dr. He may have something he just dosn't show like an ear infection. When ever we take my granddaught to the Dr. with a fever it always turns out there is something wrond and she might not even sick. A fever of over 2 days deserves a Dr. visit to make sure.

Only thing I can think of is his teeth are cutting through. If he appears full of energy and is eating well, urinating a good amount, not crying a great deal than he should be fine. If not then you need to call a doctor about it. He may have a mild viral infection or ear infection.

I would cut back on the Tylenol as well. Its not good to give in large amounts or for too many consecutive days. If he doesn't seem to be getting better with Tylenol I would cut back..Make sure he drinks plenty of fluids

at that age you have to take them to the pediatrician. they aren't able to tell you what is hurting. luckily the tylenol is keeping him comfortable.

so many times children end up in the ER with a busted ear drum and they are shocked because they showed no symptoms but a fever.

he could have an ear infection, strep throat, just a virus, teething, etc.

get him checked out. hope he feels better soon. SD

Well, first, if the fever is higher than 103, take him to the doctor!!!!! If its not---his body is trying to fight an infection of some sort, reduce the tylenol. Sometimes, fevers need to burn to kill the infection the body is trying to fight.
But if he is sleeping, don't wake him to give him more meds. Let him sleep. That's the best possible thing for a fever.

Well, sounds like he's trying to fight a virus. If he starts grabbing at his ears, get him to the doctor to check for ear infection. If he's eating or drinking ok, just wait it out. He may have diarrea, which is also a symptom of having a viral infection. Doctors will tell you to just give him lots of fluids and lots of rest.

My daughter just went through that exact same thing and it was an ear infection. Take him to the doctor, get some meds and he'll be feeling better in no time.
