This is, indeed, a sad indictment of the UK., but its is nothing new. A large proportion of London's East End turned out to mourn the death of one of the Kray family, so it is no use blaming the harbouring of criminals on to black people, Muslims or any other social or ethic grouping, as some of our newspapers have done.
In the late 1970s and until 1984, I lived in South London, and was able to move around Brixton and Streatham, including Railton Road, Effra Avenue and Electric Avenue without the slightest problem, despite being a young, white man.I have also wandered around Manningham (Bradford - supposedly 'notorious' Asian area), Toxteth (Liverpool), Moss Side (Manchester) in more recent years and have encountered no more hostility and evidence of crime than I have in my own native heath, which comprises such areas of Tyneside such as Meadowell (North Shields) and the Montagu and Cowgate estates in Newcastle upon Tyne, which are virtually entirely white.
I have said the above, because I am concerned that crime is being scapegoated onto Asian and Black people. I had a few pints last week in a pub in Glodwick (Oldham) with some British people of Asian origin - they say they get more trouble from journalists trying to find a problem than they get from the BNP.
Crime is nothing new. Gun-crime is an inevitable consequence of the Americanisation of the UK. We have cheapo American food, glorified by advertising (McPongalls, Bugger King, Kentucky Fried Sicken etc). We have American Gangsta' rap. Can't we get bacto a decent meat pie, three-piece suits, brogues and bobies on the beat. Unfortunately, the latter will have to universally sport a 7.65 Luger.

I'm sure some people do it because they're as stupid and deperate as the person that's committed the crime in the first place, and may be benefitting from it... Others may decide the last thing they want is their own flesh and blood being put in prison for years on end, and they may do what they can to prevent this from happening. Obviously one should do the right thing, but the above is possibly why some people may not do this.

Most criminals are shielded by the police and politicians, only the little people go to prison, most murders are committed by the rich and powerful but of course no one says anything about this because to do so is to leave yourself open to a visit by our fantastic (haha) police force and thrown in a cell and beaten to death.

It is surprising how people will shield other people
How can you ever trust that person wont turn on you like they did on someone else
Some one must knows these criminals and what they have done people must act differently after they have killed or hurt somebody

OK, but you should look at it in context, only a few people out of millions are affected by this type of thing.
Some of them people wouldn't report (like the guy that bought lots of cars with fake cheques)
But others that kill and mug etc...they probably will unless it is their family member in which case they are probably just as bad as them.
