Absolutely!! And ignore these ignorant people who obviously have never raced anything. Karting is the ideal place to start no matter where you want to end up. The idea is to get RACING experience. And at age 10 your choices are limited. (Although karting starts at age 5) That being said, you will have an absolute blast racing karts! Here's some sites to get you started.
www.tsracing.com (also lists tracks by state, so you can go watch , ask, & learn!)

Good Luck!!

10 is a good age and karting is a great way to learn car control and get exposure to race craft and racing (plus, it's alot of fun!).
Though, one of the first things you will likely learn (contradicting an earlier comment here), is that driving on the inside is not the best way to go. While this is the shortest route around a corner, it is also the slowest as it creates the smallest arc. The ideal driving line around a corner would start at the outside of the turn, then come to the inside at the apex of the turn, and then go back to the outside... this maximizes your potential exit speed. While most passing is done to the inside (as outside is normally just too far to drive unless you are dramatically faster than the car you are passing), but it's not a case of simply staying on the inside.

That's a great age to start, but forget you can about NASCAR. Kart racing is training for open-wheelers - many current and past F1 drivers (including Michael Schumacher) started on karts.

i think it is a good age to get started at and besides it is good to start with something small like a go cart so that way u can learn to drive and your turns easier, so that way u know to stay on the inside turn when turning to make it past the other drivers and u know it is the shortest distance anyway and know how to handle the go cart or car too.

Yes because some drivers didn't start till they were around 15 and still had the talent to make it to the top. If you have the talent then it won't matter at what age you start to race.

Go Karts will not help with getting to NASCRAp.
It will help you develop skills for REAL racing - like the Champ Car World Series.

Go Karts are how they all got their start. Some a little younger than yourself and some a little older than yourself. I would say Burn and Turn little buddy ;)
