My ex- boyfirned and father of my child is in Mexico . I am having trouble contacting him by phone or by post. Would the embassy get in contact with him?

Probably not. If he is a US citizen you can contact ACS (Americas Citizen Services) at the nearest US Embassy or Consulate. If you have last know address, you can provide that information to the embassy and they might do a "welfare check" but it depends on length of time he has been missing.

The other factor is if he really wants to be found...

Besides contacting the US Embassy you could try reporting him to your nearest Mexican Consulate and ask them to try to track him down for you.
