It was on the ossuary of Simon son of Jonah and on Jesus' family tomb.

I'm not certain, but I believe it was an early symbol for christianity... it was on some texts, as well as the tomb and some of the ossuaries (including the one attributed to jesus).

Who knows, but if it is very rare to have a marking of any kind on those tombs, then perhaps that should further encourage people to keep researching the area. The bones need to be dug up again and studied as well.

They didn't ascribe a meaning to it.

They only noted it because it appeared on that other ossuary in the tomb of Jesus-believers.

Good question! I wondered that myself! I don't know why the scholars didn't look into that closer. I wonder what the writing on the wall was also? I thought it was classic BS how they shoved those people out of the tomb, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD PERMISSION TO BE THERE!
