ok so my boyfriend asked me to prom. i never went to my prom because i was never into the whole dancing thing. i dont regret it at all. the thing is i kno he wants to go to his n its comin up. he is 2 yrs younger than me. i wont know anyone there n im nervous as hell to go wit my bf. can u please advise me on wat to do? i cant dance n im too self conscious to go wit him n dance cuz i dunno wat to expect. wat is prom like? wat do u do at prom? wat kind of dances are done at prom n wat dances shud i learn to do to get me ready for the prom? how shud i get more comfortable wit my bf wit dancing and how shud i learn to dance? please help me on wat to do n wat to expect. im so scared!!

Prom for me was the best time of my life and girl, I can not dance, Most of the people at my prom did not care about the way that I was dancing they were more interested in the way that they were dancing and who they were dancing with. I had a blast. Just have a little rythm that is all you need to know about because a simple moving back and forth is good for any song. I do not think that you should waste your time and money on dancing lessons for one night. Ask your bf to help you with the slow dances if that is what you want to know. The two of you are just holding each other and moving back and forth to a slow song. Ask him how he likes to dance and when he looks at a girl what he likes to see. That may help. Have your girlfriends help you out too. They helped me!!

Okay, I've chaperoned so many proms, I think I can give you some tips.
Half the people there won't know how to dance and many don't. They sit at the tables and enjoy watching the DJ or band. The ones dancing are really just moving to the beat. You can practice doing that with a broomstick. Two steps back, two steps forward... slide to the left and then to the right. Really, no one will be expecting some slick moves. Few people at the prom have slick moves.
The lighting will be dim.... so no one will be staring at you. Hear that ??? no one.
The only awkward part about a prom is the entrance because everyone is checking each other out. Since you don't know many people there, relax... they won't be giving you the once over. They save that for their " not so good friends".
Go to a department store you like and ask to see the prom dresses. A good saleslady will know what might be just right for you. You can also go online and look at dresses to see what other girls wear.
Your boyfriend will be at your side... so you will not be alone. Just enjoy the evening with him.... he will only have eyes for you !!!
Relax... it will be just fine. Trust me here. It's time to start getting excited !!! Oh.. wear nice but comfortable shoes !

My gf asked me to go to a college dance with her, (I'm two years older then her) I didn't want to go because I didn't want to feel as if I was back in high school, I don't know anyone from her school. During that night, I didn't want to be there because I was nervous. Suddenly nothing mattered but her, I had a great time and I do like her friends. I think you should go and just have fun, as far as dancing... ummm just take a few shots! HA.. alwalys works.. Go for it, you'll have a lot of fun and you can sort of have a taste of what prom is.

Relax Fashion!! Proms can be great fun! And while there are slow dances, proms are celebrations...so there will be a lot of uptempo songs that you should be able to do just fine.
Why don't you try dancing with him at home first? Just put on the radio, and play around with it. As long as you guys are having fun, EVERYONE will be going wild and partying, so just cut loose and relax a bit.
Everything else will fall in to place. Just have fun, and what is most important, he just wants you to be there to share one of the most memorable experiences of his life. He'll never forget it either way.

I've been there. The first thing you need to do is talk to his parants as well as yours and make sure neither of them are going to surprise you with movie cameras to make the situation five times worse. Make sure they understand that YOU WILL KILL THEM.
Other than that, Highschool proms generally aren't real formal with waltzes and cha chas and what have you. So you have plenty of room to act like a total idiot and have fun lauging at yourself as well as him. Aside from slow dancing, its mostly talking and screwing around. When its a song you hate, that's when its time to drag him out of the crowd and get something to drink.
I went to all of my proms nervous, but I left knowing that I had a great time. Just focus on enjoying your man's company.
